New indian?

Not bad. My bank account seems to be about $22K short of the price tag though. Looks like we've only got one dealer in Arizona (Scottsdale).

I'm not into the whole retro thing (which is good since I bought a Victory Vision) but I can't wait til some of the technology trickles down to the Vic lineup in the next year or two.

I like the retro thing.

Have to admit that all the new amenities coupled with the retro styling seems out of place. I think I could get over it though.

From a style standpoint it's setup pretty much like my Nomad is, except I have a backrest and no back seat. It's right up my alley. If I put a drifter front fender on mine they'd be real close (other than the Indian having more than double the horsepower and torque that is).

I didn't read the reviews Chris but what technology do you wish would trickle down to the Victory line?
I thought the Vics were pretty high tech as they are.
Just curious

They are but Polaris has really stepped up the technology with the new Indians. They've added things like central locking, keyless ignition and better handlebar controls for the cruise and stereo (better integrated with backlighting). I think they also offer a factory security system although I could be wrong about that. I can see that sort of stuff on the higher end Victory touring bikes (Vision and X bikes) in the next couple of years after Indian has (re)made their mark.

I see they did like the Vics and don't include a heel shifter. No hard lowers, passenger floorboards...or tour pack with a Queen seat.....hhhhmmm. I like it okay, especially that big-ass motor, but it has a ways to go to be all that it can be. I love the retro-styling with all the modern electronics and stuff. It's perfect for the old guy who is trying to recapture his youth...he gets a cool looking and great riding bike, without having to kick-start the damn thing! It's not quite the road couch my XCT is....but it might get there one day....

Not sure how I feel about the Indians. I like that Polaris is bringing back the name and actually putting money into it. The Chief CLassic or Vintage would be my choice, as I don't care for the hard bags or fairing on the Chieftain. Retro is neat, but why go backwards? Indain was never a brand I lusted after as a kid, and HD was in the AMF years (yuck.) The CB's and the GPZ's the Z1. These were the bikes I dreamed of.

Like others have said the new technology is impressive, and I do hope it filters down to the Victory line. My Vision has everything I could ever imagine, but then so did the Nomad so many years ago.

Time will tell, but I sincerely hope they make a go of it. Just nice to have options when looking for American branded motorcycles. I was looking around at the local bike night on Tuesday and it is obvious who the sales leader is.

That said I didn't buy my Victory to impress others, I bought it because it impressed me.

Amen. Just as any bike purchase should be.

23000 for a cheiftan with abs and electronic cruise or 17400 for a vaquero without those options even available. Indian is looking better all the time. Definitely would have to take a close look at it. I'm definitely a retro look fan the Victory's just don't do it for me.

Comparison of a 1948 Indian Chief with the new 2014 Chieftain...

The 2014's have put the "Indian ornament" on the front fender much further forward than the original Chiefs. Too far forward in my opinion when looking at the bike's overall design-lines...

Minor point for most, I am sure, but very noticeable, and displeasing to me... and is among a fairly long list of things I was disappointed with in the design (many of which Chris mentioned).

Overall they captured much of the nostalgic look, but I can see the "fingerprints" of the Victory design team all over this bike... and in my opinion that was a mistake for Polaris.

We'll see how it all pans-out though. Polaris is run by a very competent CEO that knows every aspect of that company's product line and business. I won't cut him short just yet... The public may very well buy these. I will not...

I like the look of them. Depending on what they do with them in the next few years I could see one in my future.

I think they're good looking bikes. I would only be truly interested in the Chief Classic or Vintage. The touring model just doesn't look right to me.
