They rode Kawasaki.

A 1975 Kawasaki Z1 900 cc motorcycle, modified through the addition of a shop-installed kit, then in 1976 available factory-built as a police motorcycle

1978 KZ1000C Police - The first built-for-law-enforcement model, intended to compete with the Harley Davidson, 1978 - 1981
Power 88HP@9000rpm 112Ft-lbs@8000rpm

My Dad had a 78 KZ 1000 back in 93 that I rode around on.
It was a Bomb.

I loved that show and those bikes! I had a KZ1000LTD and it was one quick bike! There is a pic of my old KZ in my signature under "past Toys".

Watch this intro to the Chips show, it will take you back.

Unfortunately, I remember all too well when that show was a hit. That sure brings back memories. It was about then I bought my first Japanese bike, a '75 XS-650 Yamaha.

I remember seeing and riding my first Z-1 900. Nothing could touch it.

My first big street bike was a KZ650. That had a lot of get up and go.

Man, I loved that show. My brothers and I would fight over who was Ponch and who was John and who ended up being "Grossman" for that week's episode.

i think the torque is way off. I had a 1978 KZ1000 and it was rated at 82 HP and something like 65 ft lbs of torque. My GPz750 was 87 hp and 50 Ft lbs of torque.

Good memories, had some good shows back then. Any one remember McCloud with Dennis Weaver?

Now I rarely watch anything on TV except some of the sports, travel and history channels.
