I switched the bars out on my 2001, using a set of OEM HD Street Glide bars. I have a set 4" risers and with the HD bars, it raised the bars approximately 2". The khurling extended out about 1/4", but there was enough under the clamps that they are secured firmly. I love the feel verses the stock setup. Besides the bars were FREE.

Yes I do like the bars. I just got back from a 2K+ mile trip (to sw rally and back) and they are quite comfortable. I have no regrets with them.

Jared sat next to me at a light and our handgrips were just about dead even for height. I have stock bars with the chuckster 3 inch risers. Am thinking I would like the looks of higher bars without the risers.

Jared,
Nice work on a Great Looking Bike! Do you have an opinion as to how the bars would work on a stock setup. Any need to change or lengthen any cables or lines? Using stock bars and Phat IIs on my "06" right now. "Opinions Appreciated"!

I just put these 11" Santee mini apes on my 03 1500 Nomad. The Brake line was 1/2 inch short after moving it out of the triple, everything else worked. I run the wired like Jared said with 16" extensions but had to pull it all apart and redo it with 24" extensions to make mine work.

Keep in mind, we have different bikes.

I personally wouldnt run dresser apes on a bike with a windshield. You could, but my personal thoughts are they look best with a fairing.

I have the reckless fairing coming in about a week so I am just getting everything ready for it when it arrives, only thing to do yet is change the fork oil.

Love the Santee's

I used Jared's advice and bought the Santee Apes in Black instead of chrome. I love them on my 2006 1600 Nomad. Then only thing that wasnt mentioned was the little hole you have to drill for the right side starter and kill switch. I didnt have to change any hoses although my front brake is pretty tight now and I did have to move it behind the triple tree. I have the reckless fairing on it as well. Could not be happier with my set up.

You're right Jared. After looking at the pictures a number of times I can see where the looks would take a real hit downward.

Installed the santee bars today on my 2004 1500 with hoppe quadzilla fairing. Everything fit have to use stock risers. Didnt do wiring i need a winter project. Everything worked on the left side but man that brake cable is tight but no big deal i knew it would be tight and yes it is behind the forks . i will order longer cable when i get next allowance from wife lol. Really biggest pain was bleeding brake only because i cant stand brake fluid. I always forget and put a chew in and taste like $#IT.Im very pleased with the way it feels and looks. couldnt be happier. I found a pair for $85 to my front door http://www.ebay.com/itm/150653449064...84.m1497.l2649

Very cool! Glad you like them. From what you've said and what a few others have said, the 1500 front brake line is shorter than it is on the 1600. With the cable behind the tree clamp it's rather loose on my bike.
