MaKaw also recommends Bridgestone tires. See how many still run them. :)

Nothing is cheaper from a Kawasaki dealer.

I put MaKaw S4 into my Nomad when I changed the oil this summer. Bike did run better. I will be switching to T6 on my next oil change. Cost is almost half of what MaKaw charges for synthetic.

As I mentioned I have been running s4 since the first break in oil change. It costs more, $38 from my dealer, but I like it, and quite frankly I haven't bought much from him or had my bike serviced there since I bought my bike, so I don't mind getting my oil and filters from him if it helps keep his doors open.

From what I have read on this forum about oil and filters, there are those who use WM oil and filters and have 10s of thousands of trouble free miles. There are those that use Kawi oil and filters exclusively with 10s of thousands of trouble free miles. There are those using other oils/filters of different makes and brands that have 10s of thousands of trouble free miles. Seems to me there is no "best" oil or filter. Some may be better than others. Some may be the same product in different packaging. I wonder if posters on m/c oil threads are as concerned about what they put in their cars, trucks, lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc. or they think the motorcycle is such a fragile machine that it needs to be overmaintained. I care for all my "machines" equally. They all have a job to do. JMHO

There was a pretty good link from either Gadgets or Eurekaboys site with some differences between filters. If I can find the link, I'll post it.

My local Kawasaki dealer does not sell Kawasaki branded oils, either dino or synthetic.

usranger74 --- Nope, but that's a good one, too. The one I'm thinking of had pics of the various oil filters torn down to show the guts. Had letter grades (A, B, C, D, F) for all of them with recommendations. (Something like "expensive but worth it" or "cheap, a good value".)

Waving My 2 cents

I also use Rotella T synth on both of my bikes- BUT, the clutch DOES slip on a occasion on both my Nomad & VFR. It's hard to find Neutral every so often, sometimes i need to roll the bike back a bit to nudge it into Neut. However, the bike runs MUCH SMOOTHER w/ it - and REVS lower too. my 2 cents.
