horn education 101 needed

On my '05 kaw 800 single stock round disc 3 amp horn setup, if I were to run a 14 gauge wire from (+) battery to an auto relay then to my stock horn using the stock horn button as the relay trigger, would that increase the Decibels of my stock horn? My logic on this goes somthing like this, less ohms resistance using 14 gauge wire direct from the battery means more current flow means a louder horn. Do this hold true?

No idea but I doubt it.
If it were me I would buy a Stebel horn and mount that.
I have them on our bikes and they are loud.

I would say no, it won't help. I agree with Tim. If you want more sound buy more horn.

I use my horn alot so people know I'm coming.....if they even look like they're gonna come out, I give them a blast....

I even left the original horns on to add a slight vol. increase, just used their wire to trigger the relay setup....not nary a problen after 5 years....

There's plenty of room up under the tank on an 800... I put a pair of trumpet style car air horns up in there on mine, with a lengthened hose running to the compressor under a side-cover.

As I recall now... the horn was more powerful than the engine Lot of fun one-up though, that bike.

I found a used stebel nautilus compact air horn, says made in Italy, jumped test power to it and it works, it is hard to find a spot on my '05 800 for it, potential spot is remove the front stock horn infront of the rad and put it there, don't like that spot but that's an option, my rad fan and helmet lock tab is in the way for mounting the stebel on the left side, another spot is the right side if the clutch cable support ring/tab on the frame can be removed, those are my short preliminary assessment spots to mount it, but I am pleased that i had found a stebel found in an old parts bin

The Wolo Bad Boy 419 horn is dual dissonant frequencies and 123.5 db. The dual PIAAs are 115 db according to the Amazon page. 8.5 db is nothing to sneeze at. Remember it is a logarithmic scale, not a linear one. 115 db is quite a bit louder than your average car horn. 123.5 db is a bit louder than a jet engine.

I would go with the Wolo. In fact, I did. I actually have 2 of them, the 419 and the 619, which is a different frequency, but still dissonant to the 419 frequencies. When you add two 123.5 db sources together, the decibel math comes out to about 130 db.

The PIAAs will still be much louder than the stock horn and the dissonance of 2 frequencies will make them more noticeable, too. Less space for the PIAAs vs. more db from the Wolo is the decision you need to make.

As to the original question about the wire gauges, the stock horn pulls 3 amps max. No gauge of wire will allow it to pull more. If the wire is too small, it may cause less than 3 amps of current to reach the horn, at least until the wire melts and breaks the circuit completely.

the stebel nautilus is not fitting on the left or right side, only in-front of the rad but I don't like putting it there, so I'm going to the store and buying 2 Fiamm cheapos A and B

went to the store and bought 2 Fiamm electrics, a high and a low with an auto inline fuse holder and disconnects, now in the process of removing the gas tank and finding a mount location somewhere on the left and right sides under the tank just behind the rad, there's rad support bolts there that I might be able to use as mount location for a bracket, going to see if I can use the bracket in the packages or make my own
