Well, I didn't know, I told the guy some of the 99s, and 00s came with the pog. I go everywhere with tools, he told me the oil light would flicker at idle.
So, I started checking it out, it had low oil pressure.
I then yanked the clutch cover, pulled the clutch and basket, it had the plastic gear, instead of teeth, it had little round nubs....
Guy wanted $3800 for it, I offered him 3000, he took it after he saw the gear.
Hell, I thought those things had steel gears, too. Maybe a screwup from the factory, don't know....think some of the other Vulcans had them too, but I think they didn't have any problems.
Anyway, I gots a Drifter now, cool Green color.....

Hehehehehe

I'm glad I'm not the only Dr Frankenfurter around here.

I've seen some ask about using 1600 swing arms on 1500s.

There have been a lot of differing opinions about how much is interchangeable and what has to be used to make the 1600 unit work on the 1500 frame.

I swapped a 1600 S-Arm onto my 03 complete with the drive shaft and final drive with no problem, until the u-joint started vibrating.

I'm attaching a few pictures of both a 1500 and a 1600 drive shaft, see if you can tell the difference.

Someone once told me that they were different lengths and that you had to use the 1600 shaft with the 1600 S-Arm.

I'm in the process of polishing a 1600 S-Arm right now, like you would a connecting rod, once the new u-joints arrive, I'll reassemble it and have it balanced.

Hopefully that will remove all of the vibration associated with it.

Take a look at one of these, it's amazing they don't shake the bike apart.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Its fuel injected, soooo, I picked it up pretty cheap cause of the 'pog'.
No-one wants it whose in-the-know, so later on I'll just yank the motor out, put her up on the shelf for a winter project.
I'm gonna be pulling my Thunder 1500 outta my Nomad next month, Will put it in the Drifter, and put the Thunder 1600 into Nomad.
Always wanted a Drifter with a Batwing, bags and razor trunk.....

No Prob. MAS!.............Think MAS and I are into making a lighter, lower, longer Vulcan Bagger, or at least trying with our mad chemistry sets of steel....
I love the way the Meanies look. I think the Meanies are Bitchin', look great with a batwing, and if could get the bags to match the fender contour....they'd be sweet! Something I could look forward to when I get too old to hold that ole Whale up.
Now the Drifter, put a batwing on it, with Nomad bags, along with it being a lighter bike, think it'd make a good tourer while being a tribute to the old Indian.
My drifter is gonna be sportin' a 16" Apes, once I find a source for longer hoses....tired of having the locals autp parts folks bellyache when I need them to make up some longer hoses....

http://galferusa.com/static/files/wp...m-Lines-R3.pdf

I have these on my Nomad, and soon will have them on the Meanie.

I have plenty of length with the 12" apes, I just added 6" to the stock length of the upper front brake and clutch lines.
