Florida Riders to Helen Spring Rally

Just to let you guys know, I recently built my HF trailer, towed it around on short jaunts to Publix, Costco's, to work, etc....then towed it from South Florida to Kentucky, over to Bryson City, NC, then back to Florida. No problems. I did take a spare tire and a set of spare bearings, just in case.

Before leaving on the trip north, I did pack the wheel bearings with real grease, got rid of the cheap grease that came with the trailer. You guys will love it!! Have fun!

0700 - Depart Crestview FL on I-10 East

0815 - Depart Cottondale FL on Hwt 231 N for Dothan, AL

0900 - Breakfast stop

0930 - Depart Dothan AL, on Hwy 431 N to Columbus GA

1200 - Depart Columbus Ga, I-185/85 N to Atlanta

1400 - Depart Atlanta'ish on I-85 N for Helen Ga

1600 (1700 EST) - Arrive Helen WOOOOOOOOO-Hooooooooooooo!

10:00 am Joe and Wayne meet up I-75 exit 107
11:00 - 11:15 am Meet Mike in Port Charlotte I-75 exit 170
12:00 - 12:45 Lunch
3:00 to 3:30 pm * Meet Jim jmilucky I-75 rest area mile marker 346
5:00 pm Arrive in Lake City

Friday:

9:00 am Meet Coach and his group @ McDonald's :) Lake City

Ride to Helen.. I-75 to Valdosta, GA SR 125/129 to Helen.

Dinner in Helen GA whenever we get there :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

*Jim..I can call you when we finish lunch Thursday to give you a better time as to when we expect to hit the rest area, or you can get there when you can and "rest?"

Polishing up chrome today, getting the trailer ready, probably have my clothes packed tomorrow

Looks like I'll have the trailer ready to go. I spent about 2 hours Sunday getting the frame square, it was about 2 inches out just bolting it together.

I'm still taking Monday off to get it road ready. I have too many other things to to this weekend.

Wonder what thats going to do to my MPG... ah who cares, it'll be fun just pulling it behind me.

MikeInFlorida...On my last trip pulling the trailer around Florida (no hills) I think I lost about 2 mpg's. Worth the room :)

If you are going through Atlanta....your route is certainly up to you, but it would be quicker, and probably less traffic, if you went North on RT400 from Atlanta, then RT19 through Dahlonega, right on RT129 toward Cleveland, left on RT75 to Helen.

Little change in plans. I-75 closed :( so Wayne can't meet me in Naples. I will still met you at 11:00, but we'll meet Wayne at the rest area at MM 278 and then proceed. time to meet Wayne unknown at this time, don't know how long it'll take him going up sr 27 to sr 60 to I-75 N.

What's that saying..."best laid plans...."

South Florida riders arrived without incident at Lake City, to meet Coach & crew in the morning. Everyone arrived on time and didn't have a chance to set up the satellite dish at the rest areas.
