Close encounters of the furry kind

Saturday morning at 6:45 a.m. I was cruising south on MN Hwy 95 about 3 miles north of the Boom Site and a deer came tearing out of the woods from my left. I was cruising at about 70 so I had to grab all the brake I could and dropped down to about 40 when the first deer crossed a few inches in front of me. The second deer was on a collision course with me and successfully skidded enough so it went a few inches behind me. WHEW!!
I would like to think it was my cat like reflexes and my superior motorcycle handling skills that saved my ass but I suspect the truth is I was just dumb ass lucky. Be careful out there guys.

Hey Mike, not the time to be playing with furry friends right before a rally!

Sounds like a close one, Mike. Glad you made it through.

One morning at the Custer Rally, I had eaten breakfast early and had some time until the morning ride meeting at the Bavarian, so I decided to take a little spin by myself. I took the main drag west out of town, and about 10 miles later came around a corner to find two does standing in my lane staring at me. I dodged them, but thought I would need a clean pair of shorts. Missed them by a couple of inches.

Your lucky that could have done some serious damage. I hit a racoon coming home from work onFriday night. No damage to me as it hit the lh crash bar.

Glad to hear you missed them... or that they missed you; however it ended up. We have been lucky for so long now. Gotta love ABS brakes though...

PS: Kendra and I almost hit what I thought was big-foot down in Arkansas last year, but we missed it. We were able to take a picture of it down by the creek-bed and took this picture just to make sure it was big-foot!

I experienced the very same thing this morning going to work. Left the house @ 0500hrs and as I was speeding up to exit onto the interstate, there were 2 deer standing in the middle of the on ramp. Whew, lucky me, missed both by inches.
