I ride to work everyday it isn't raining. Yesterday they forecasted rain. I took my jeep and the only rain was a 30 second splash early on. The rest of the day was sunny and pleasant.

Today, they're calling for rain throughout the day - 80% chance. Not having the faith I once did in these guys, I rode in. Now it's raining and not lQQk'n good at all! Scewed again.

If it's raining don't ride. If it's not raining when you are ready to leave, ride. If it rains on the way home you'll dry off, but who wants to be wet at work from a ride in.

Those are CUMULONIMBUS MAMMATUS clouds. Extreme turbulence. The name "mammatus" is derived from the Latin mamma (breast), due to the resemblance between the shape of these clouds and human female breasts. So you have the right idea but the wrong gender.

Related pictures are here:

But none are as good as those posted above.

Well I cheated the weather yesterday. After raining most of the day, we got'r home with just a mist on the shield and little grime on the swing arm.

Rode in dry today with rain predicted. Just got a make'r home dry and I got'em for whole week! Here's a cuppala more MAMMATUS clouds

Ole Dawg , I'm not going in freezing rain or snow either.

Valdez, those clouds must be a California thing. I have never seen any thing like those over here on the right coast.

TC, I've never actually seen these with my own eyes here on the left side either. I bet Mericanbike could tell us where they might commonly occur......
