cutting out when hot?

Hello there brains trust.

My 98 1500, has developed an issue where after approx 15 miles it will cough/hesitate then go again. Yesterday it died completely but started again after 10 mins sitting. It did this twice before trailering the ol girl home. At that stage it cut out and had no ignition at all where previously it would turn over but not fire. Any ideas on where i should look first?
