Thoughts and Prayers

Prayers to the folks in the Oklahoma area for what they are going through. So sad for the families that have lost dear ones, specially loosing the little ones.
May God have mercy on their souls and comfort them at this time of need.
Thoughts and prayers your way.

New Castle and Moore are the hardest hit areas. Both of these are just south of OKC. I live about 90 miles south of that area. It's still hammering down this morning but it's in my area now. Wind damage in some more areas but no tornadoes as of now. It's going to be a very long day. Prayers to all of those affected by yesterday's massive tornado. Keep your thoughts and prayers coming for the first responders and pray that they can still find survivors in those areas that suffered damage.

This is a terrible tragedy and for it to happen in almost the same area that it occurred 14 years ago makes it worse for those that rebuilt after the May 3, 1999 tornado.

Gene was on at 5:30 p.m. last night. I would guess that he is ok. He is close to Moore (25 miles).

Gene's in Blanchard, which is southwest of Moore.

I can't even imagine what those people experienced. I saw the footage a storm chaser shot from about 1 mile away, it was incredible. This area has had 3 F4 or higher tornadoes in the past 14 years. I think I'd consider relocating.

I hope any members of our VBA family in that area are safe and secure.

Good Grief what a disaster! My heart goes out to the people in Oklahoma.
A donation is on the way to the Salvation Army!
Prayers for a speedy recovery.

A special THANKS goes out to the local Home Depot for donating supplies at no charge!
I know a lot of big corporations donate to disasters, but keep them in mind when you need building material.

Saw the news and couldnt believe the destruction. I guess we really cant imagine what it would be like without living through one. We had one rip thru a high school here a few years ago and kill some teenage kids. Now the whole state shuts schools down if there is even a HINT of bad weather. What bothers me is in the south there are a lot poor families that live in mobile homes and very old shotgun houses. The kids are MUCH better off in brick and concrete schools but the liability is too great I guess. I hate to think of kids being dropped off alone at a mobile home to endure that kind of weather.
What their parents must be going thru trying to work also....
Thoughts and prayers for the OK folks....

I spoke to Dave (Budman) and Jesse last night after the storms passed them. They were OK. Most of the severe weather was north of Vic. I just spoke to Gene and all of the weather went around him. Passed really close to his daughter Catherine but she only lost power. No damage.
