The nightmare...

What should I do when stranded with a flat tire?
I have roadside assistance in Europe,but that's only good when
the cellphone is still working.
In short..I don't know what to carry with me.
I know..this has been discussed on many boards.
But I want to ask YOU.
At the best kawa Board.
Please..help me to get rid of this horrible dream.

I carry the Slime pump which comes with the necessary wiring to hook to your battery. Also carry the Slime tire plug kit. With both of these and a pair of pliers to remove a nail or whatever you have the ability to be back on the road.

I carry a tire plugging kit and a small air compressor. If I get just a nail puncture, I can plug the hole and pump the tire back up.

I have roadside assistance as well, but a good portion of my riding is outside of my cell service area.

I carry a 12 volt air compressor and a plug kit. One time with another bike i hit road re-bar, a steel rod still embedded in the road about 10mm diameter. I stuffed about 8 sticky twists in that hole, and rode out of nowhere at 35 mph. This occured on a Sunday on a 3 day weekend, so it was stay there stuck, or ride a really bad tire real slow.

The patch worked only in a limited way as it still leaked, and about every 15 miles I had to stop and add more air. The tire was junk of course but I needed to get home.

That was a bad situation Mac. Glad you were able to get enough plugs so it would at least hold enough air to get you going.

+1 with CJ... I got a true plug kit and I carry compressed air. I hear Ambien works well.

Brad why didn't I get a plus. Now I feel slighted. I never thought about the Ambien, it might just work.

Brad I figure you would just get on your stomach and use mouth to tire valve to blow your tire back up.

At the moment Idon't understand how to use an air compressor.
As a subsititude I use an mountainbike pump.
I guess..that pressure will get me to the next gas station as well.

If you have a Wal-Mart they sell a compact air compressor that comes in a zippered pouch about 6" by 6" it comes with a pigtail that you attach to your battery. The pigtail will hang out from under your seat or where you want the pigtail to be located. If you happen to have a flat. Use a tire plug to repair the hole in the tire. Then take the compressor out and plug the pigtail in it. Attach the airhose to the tire valve and turn the compressor on. It should air the tire up in a few minutes. Sure beats using a hand pump. Hope this will be helpful to you.

I'd hate to have to rely on a mountain bike pump to inflate the tire on an 800 pound motorcycle.

I have a plug kit and the CO2 air cylinders. A 12 volt pump would be better if you have the room to carry it. That way you could stop and air it up if you have a leak. The CO2 cylinders are one time thing but I keep several. I had 4 large nails at one time and it took 4 cylinders to air it up to 40 psi.

Surely somewhere in life you used a little air compressor to fill up a ball or something. You need one that plugs into a car lighter socket and to wire a socket like that somewhere on the bike. Maybe 2 sockets.

SEARS is a pretty big box store in the USA, and on this page is what I am talking about. These can be smaller than this, and this one is smaller than mine.
