how much for metzlers in the USA

Hey folks,

just curious what the going price is for a front and rear Metzler in the states. Its about that time to change mine up and if I can save on tires it means extra goodies or the Nomad somewhere else.

I paid $426 installed from my dealer. That's for the 180/70-16 radial rear and the standard front bias.

Close to $500 for both installed by dealer for the 180/70-16 radial and 150/80-16 bias on front.
Have since ran the rear bald at 11,000 miles. Installed an Avov Cobra on rear. Really like it. Would recomend it over the Metz so far. But only have 500 miles on it so far.

Whats with bias front, radial rear? I been learned that they don't mix well? I'm surprised a shop would install them. I recently tried to buy a mixed pair for my BMW LT11 at cyclegear and the guy wouldn't sell them to me after I confessed to what I was going to do with them.

I think it is ok as long as the radial is on the back.
I'm running a bias Metz on the front now with a radial Avon on the rear. No problems.

IMHO, one thing everyone needs to consider is that on the 1500s, a 180/70 tire will not fit. The 1500s came stock with a 150/80-16 on both front and rear, and I'm thinking the widest tire that will fit on the back of a 1500 is a 160/something-16, So........ Rainman is your bike a 1500 or 1600. A set of tires for the 1500 is a bit less than for the 1600s

I changed out a set of Metz's in July. They had 16,700 miles front and rear. Had a couple thousand left I think, but was leaving for a 3500 mile trip and did not want to chance it. I put Dunlop Elite 3s on and they are doing great. 10,000 miles and look like they could easily go another 7-8000. I check my pressure frequently, once a week at the very least. I keep the rear at 40-42, and the front at 38-40.

Top Cat:

I have almost 12,000 miles on the stock stones. Have a set of cobras waiting to be put on but have a few miles left on the rear.
Looking forward to trying the cobras. Had Metzlers and elite II's on different bikes. I don't remember wear on them but felt the metzlers were not as good in the rain as the elite II's. I guess the elite III's are an inprovement over the II's? I do remember that they were both good tires but as in all motorcycle tires I wish they lasted longer. (Not going to the dark side though. Car tire).

flavor, I don't know how you get tht kind of milage out of your tires.
meanstreak031 , I REALLY don't know how you do it.
I check my pressure almost every time I ride. Ran 42 rear in on Metz and 40 front.

I have about 1/16 depth left in the stock stones. Probably should change it now. I do ride mostly by myself and avoid stop and go as much as possible, as I pick where I go for pleasure. For work it's almost all highway, guess that makes a difference.

Hi Rainman. Check with Zdeno's in Kitchener on Victoria St. They have good prices on tires and lots in stock.
