Chucksters Dual Plate Question

This was a pretty easy install and all parts are very well made. The next step is to install the Dobeck EFI.

I reconnected the crankcase breather hose to the new backplate but the smaller hose that connected to the old backplate connects to nothing and is not mentioned in the instructions.

Is this supposed to just lie between the cylinders like that or can block it off or remove it?

Good question. I had an extra smaller hose that seemed to fall out. It is in the old parts box.

On further investigation that small hose that is attached to the right side stock plate has a plug in the other end behind the left side plate but unattached. It's about 9" of tubing that does nothing at all?

Feel free to add any jokes to that one.

Maybe Chuckster can amend the instructions?

That small tubing is meant to be a drain reservoir for any trace amounts of crankcase oil that accumulate in the bottom of the dog bowl. I had a heck of a time figuring it out myself. One thing I noticed with the dual plate mod is if you wash your bike without covering the right side dog bowl, the water that hits the K&N filter carries a little oil with it and it drips onto the chrome clutch cover. I always wipe mine clean at each fuel stop.

When I wash my bike i put a plastic bag over the air cleaner.

I was showing my wife the Chucksters install and mentioned covering it when I wash the bike. She went in and came back out with a thing called a "shower cap" she says she collects from hotels on our trips. That's a clear plastic thing with an elastic band in it that fits perfectly over the new Chuckster assembly.

Apparently all I have to do is sit with her to watch something called "So You Think You Can Dance"!

Crap, a plastic bag would have worked too!!

I have been using "shower caps" for a couple of years to cover my exposed air filter element. I even carry one in my left saddlebag for washing when I'm on a trip, they work great

Who knew Gibby? The wife says the shower cap is a "one off" and to stay out of her stuff. I am still a little worried about what that means!! :-/
