New Member from Manitoba

Been skulking about a bit around here since I bought my Nomad in September and figured I should get around to formally introducing myself since I figure this looks like a good spot to hang out.

My name is Doug and my lovely wife Charlene and I picked up a 2001 Nomad FI in mid September and had been piling on the miles riding 2up until the snow flew. This is a return to the street after almost 25 years of no street ride.

I've spent the last 10 years racing MX with my son to feed my motorcycle addiction. While healing from a bad crash at a race in July, on a whim I picked up an old Yamaha Maxim 750 and found that Char loved coming for 2up rides which quickly led to the search for the Nomad.

Having a blast with a hobby that we can both enjoy instead of one where she cheers from the sidelines. We are already planning several long trips for next summer to head out to the West Coast and visit family.

Doug, let me be the first to welcome you from Montreal Quebec. As You are already finding out not only is the Nomad a great bike, this is a great site with a wealth of information and a lot of really great people. Did I mention the word Great?

Welcome to KawaNOW and becoming an automatic member of the "Western Canada Nomad Riders". It's always nice to add on a new member to this half of the country. Since I was born and raised there in Manitoba till I was about 10-11 yrs. old I remember what those winters can be like. Not sure when you're planning to come out west for the visit but be sure to call in and say hello. Maybe we can hook up for a ride and meet some the west coast members. Maybe even head south and meet the Bros. down in Wash. and area.

if you have some time in June, we have our KawaNOW 2nd National Rally happening in N.C. US. there are threads about this and a whole lot more.

Thanks for the welcome fellas. Rickyboy, not sure on when we are heading out West as it will depend on what I can book for holidays. The plan currently is to meander our way across the Prairies and then visit family in Calgary, Revelstoke, Surrey, Langley, Victoria, Duncan, Crofton, and Tofino. After returning to Victoria we were planning on taking the ferry over to Washington and returning through Washington, Idaho, Montana and the Dakotas.

I saw your post about hooking up with folks for the National Rally and I am tempted in a big way but again the trip out West is a priority this year so anything else will depend on available vacation bookings at work.
