NW Rally Dining Options

Well as the summer draws closer....CC and I have been discussing places we might stop for lunch during our planned rides. We have a good idea for the ride around Flathead Lake, but I wish to get everyones feedback about the ride over Logan Pass on the Going to the Sun Road.

It has been suggested that we do a picnic style lunch at the Logan Pass Summit at the lookout-parking area. This way we could mingle, eat and enjoy the view at our leisure. CC has volunteered (with help)....to make up some sandwiches and such, and we have enough members with trunks to carry to load among us.

I think this is a grand idea, but wish to get everyone's feedback before planning for it. This would also require everyone fork out a few $$ for the cause, something you would do anyways if ordering at a restaurant. A run to the local market would also seem likely. What do you guys think? Would you like to plan for a picnic lunch atop the world....or plan for a more traditional restaurant style break...?? Keep in mind this will be a long day...so I would encourage everyone to bring some candy bars and water bottles along as well to keep your energy levels up!

I think a picnic is a fine idea and would be for each bringing their own. Meat, cheese and some crackers. Perhaps a twinkie or 2 and I'm set.

The picnic idea works fine for us Kris. Good company. Good scenery. Good sandwiches. Good Tequilla.......oops! Wrong time, wrong place!! Ok, water!!

nothing like a picnic lunch on top of the world.the idea works for me as restaurant stops can be a bit time consuming when you
have a large group.

I'm thinking nobody is going to have a problem with the picnic idea, and Landman is right....a restaurant can take up some time we might not have on what could be a long day.

Although CC has graciously offered to help with making lunches....I like Charlie's idea about letting everyone pack their own. That let's everyone enjoy what they please and saves the extra work. Luggage will most likely be left in the hotel rooms, so everyone should have some saddlebag space for a few munchies and something to drink.

Would you also play the part of the young lass running in slow motion through the meadow?
