Dave has had bad-luck with his bike almost from the moment he bought it...

Surprised he has kept it this long...

Another Victory Victim is on the way...

My guess is that it broke down. May be he had the cam chain tensioner go south.

A low mileage 1600 Nomad will give you years of affordable reliable riding. Seriously, luckily at this point in my life I can afford any bike I want and I love my Nomad.

His shift shaft is stripping out and wobbling so that his toe shifter shakes like it might come off! It's a known problem on the HD forums. We rode yesterday down to a microbrewery and he showed it to me. Shaft wobbles back and forth.

The actual shaft that goes into the tranny? Or is it the heel-toe shifter no longer fitting onto the shaft?

I have never heard of any shift-shaft problems... but have known the heel-toe shifter getting loose where tightened onto the shaft.

Just wondering...

The one that the heel-toe shifters connect to. Just got back from the dealer. $75 for the shaft and toe shifter. Since I don't know which is stripping out yet, I bought both. Both the parts and service guy's I talked to agree it's a common problem. IMHO it should not be a common problem. Luckily it's easy to swap out.

I'm terrified to read threads or listen to conversations that start with "I've sinned" or "If I tell you something will you promise not to tell no one?", but my eyes wont quit reading nor my ears quit listening.

If a Nomad is spam and oatmeal to you why did you ride one for years and join a spam and oatmeal organization as the 5th member? This is a good place....why rag on it or the bikes you rode and everybody on here rides? If you had a problem w Trip or anyone else here keep it between you guys. This isn't high school. Go to facebook if you want to relive your glory days
