Tour pack for stock 2014 Nomad rack?

Hi folks,
I'm looking into getting a tourpack for my 2014 Nomad, which has the stock backrest and luggage rack currently. Are there any options that can use that mount or do I have to replace the entire assembly?

Thanks,
Jeff

My suggestion would be to buy a Wompus rack and mount the trunk to that.
Then you can set and drill the trunk in the desired position for your passenger.

Wompus rack is the way to go.

The wompus rack sits lower and looks better on the bike with a tour pack, IMHO. Just better Lines/ Profile. But YMMV

So I'm assuming I'd remove the existing luggage rack and slide out the backrest and the Wompus rack attaches inside the stock backrest frame?

Any favorite tour pack sites with models that work well with the Wompus rack? Preferably economical to offset the cost of the Wompus rack... ;)

Thanks,
Jeff

With a tour pack you remove the back rest too. The tour pack has the back rest built in, so you don't need the factory back rest. Most people use a harley tour pack. Nothing is cheap.

You have to remove the hand rails also. My wife didn't want to give up the hand rails. So I figure up what I wanted and had a local shop weld me up one out of aluminum. Its very sturdy doesn't shake or vibrate. over 25,000 miles with it no issues.

This is all the pictures I have right now. There is aluminum spaces blocks inside of the handrail frame to fill that gap. By doing it this way allowed me to sit the trunk lower.
The trunk is one off a 1980s Venture. I reinforced the bottom with a aluminum plate and sandwiched the trunk bottom between it and the rack. But any trunk would work.

I also moved the helmet locks off the lower crash bars to the sides of this. The helmets hang nice off them now.

Cheap trunks are available but you get what you pay for. Tsukayu are a better product than Mutazu.

So you got the Wompus rack or you kept the stock handrails and had them make you a custom trunk mount? From your pics it looks like the stock handrails? (My preference is to keep them).

Plumber63 does not have a Wompus rack. He had a custom trunk mount made and it attaches to the bike using the bolt holes where the stock backrest used to be.

Take a good look at his first photo.

Put the cursor over the photo then right click the mouse to enlarge the photo by clicking on "Open Link"

Yeah, that's what I thought it looked like, but it also sounded like he had custom handrails made but they looked stock (which I think they are).

Looking at the Wompus mount for the 1700 Nomad, it looks like it also attaches to the bolt holes where the stock backrest used to be...

The tourpak replaces the stock passenger backrest. You need a purpose-built tourpak mount, a luggage rack is not designed to carry the weight of a tourpak.

I would send Wompus an email to confirm how it mounts.

Are you aware that Kawasaki sold a trunk and a mount for the 1700 Nomad ? You might be able to find a used one.
