Cedar Breaks - Hwy 14

For all of you who might want to be taking UT Hwy 14 in the Cedar Breaks area, you are going to have to detour around Hwy 14 because between Hwy 89 and Cedar City (I15) a large section of the road is gone. Literally gone. A huge landslide last week swallowed up the road. Estimates are the middle of next year before it's open.

I never heard a thing about this on the news. I guy I work with has a cabin up there and sent me this picture link. Sorry it's facebook.

Was planning a Fall foliage ride up that way and will have to reroute.

That is a nice ride. I rode Hwy 14 from Cedar City to US 89 a year ago. Probably won't be too long before 14 is closed for the winter anyway. I think I read about the landslide in one of the Salt Lake newspapers a while back. I had assumed it would have been fixed by now.

We rode through there about a year ago and ended up riding on snow covered roads above 9000 feet.

The slide just happened about a week ago. From the looks of the of the pictures it's going to take a long time to clean up.
