Hammer,
Thanks for the great photos. I took my fuel pump & filter out over the weekend (runs great now BTW!) to clean out the filter and wasn't exactly sure how some of it went back together. D'oh!

A quick look at your photos and I had it all figured out and back together in no time.

Just got home from a rally and now can now judge the results of the fuel pump maintenance and update. Bottom line is it feels like a new bike. It now rolls on much smoother and feels like more power. I used to have slight pinging on uphill power runs and that's just gone.

I am guessing the improved fuel delivery helped out more than I expected.

Hi Hammer. I realize this is an old post so I was wondering if the link to Parts is still valid. Also, pics are all gone. My wife's 05 Nomad just had the fuel pump crap out. ulled the tank and hit it with a spare battery and no spinning noises. Don't want to give Kawasaki 600-700 bucks for a replacement. Thanks in advance,

Rusty

All these photos look nothing like my fuel pump.
I have an 02 1500. I have replaced my fuel filter and fuel strainer
Twice in 148,000 Miles. I replaced my pump once.
I didn’t see in the write up specifying it was for 1600 models only.

Hey guys. I don't know about the '02 fuel pump although with a separate filter it looks like something that could be serviced.

Try this link, https://www.highflowfuel.com/ag-1313...n1600-efi.html

Looks like the 1600s pump, pickup filters x 3 + connector is even a better deal now and they are now using either the actual Mitsubishi grommet I sent them or something similar. Actually maybe better if it is Viton. the older hose connector they used before was a non-starter. I am not sure that the EFI componets are any different. If you are not sure, contact them.

You can do a search there so try the '02 for parts.

Since Photobucket died to me I have not tried to re-link photos. If you need it, I can send a write-up with pics. Message me with an e-mail address and I will help out there if I can.

Yes, once the tank is empty and off the bike it is not bad at all. Used pumps may work just fine but I really would replace the pickup filter and probably replace the rubber grommet too. All that is very cheap. I am betting that a lot of these pumps fail because the pickup filters are small and clog fast. When Idaho had his pump fail, that grommet was split. Eliminate the weak links?

I have a kit now that includes pump, grommet, filter and harness. The pump body itself just carries those components anyway.

The problem is you can’t order the Kawasaki pump parts. When you order the after market pump the pick up screen is different so you have to make it
Work.

I just ordered this one.

Hmmm! The pickup screen I got from Quantum was pretty much the same as the Kawi screen and I had no problems fitting it. Same goes for the pump, connectors and grommet on my pump body. I am not sure why yours would be different. I know others have used the combo with no problems at all.

OK and I am confused. Jllm02199 do you have a 1600 engine with an '02 1500 tank and fuel pump. If that's what you have I don't know what will work except maybe the replacement parts for the 1500 pump you showed in the pic.

As recumbentbob and others have indicated, the link you showed works fine on 1600 Nomads with 1600 tanks and pumps. I think you are talking about 2 different fuel pumps here.
