Kuryakyn ISO grips

I just got my ISO grips and have a question about the install on the throttle side.

When you remove the OEM grip, and you remove the stock sleeve that is covering the plastic inner sleeve, do I then have to sand down the plastic sleeve that the cables hook up to.

And what about the plastic chrome spacer that comes on the stock grip..... Does it also need to be cut off or removed...

When I bought my ISO grips, one of them already had the nylon sleeve that the cable ends slip into. I would think you would toss the plastic chrome spacer when you install the ISOs.

I do not recall sanding the inner sleeve down, I did mine a couple years ago though so maybe I have forgotten. Throttle side as far as I remember was a simple remove the stock bits and replace with the ISO grip. On the other side all I did was sand down the left over glue a bit then cut a spacer for the end from the piece supplied and glued it on.

Thanks CJ....it would have been nice if the sleeve was already in the grip, but it isn't. I think the chrome spacer NEEDS to come off. The new grip might not fit close enough if it isn't removed.

It's going to be hard to determine how the grip sits though. I guess I'll have to match the clutch side with the throttle side.

My question was probably a silly one because the sleeve won't fit into the new grip unless I do sand the plastic sleeve.

So they sell ISO grips without the throttle sleeve already in one of them?

You are correct - install the throttle side grip first and then install the other side to match it.

I think that is where I am confused, mine came complete with the sleeve....just had to open up the right control and install the cables for the most part.

The right side comes with a plastic black sleeve(no sanding needed), slip on and connect the 2 cables. The left you do sand(clean) bar and apply glue and put on the left grip. if you want to match them, do the right first then the left? is that the question guys??

Think so...it sounds like rickyboy's did not come with the sleeve on the right though....

I chatted with Bike Bandit and they tell me I have the wrong grips. I went to use the glue and both bottles were empty. ::) I called them and explained and they tell me there should be no glue need for the correct grips. I explained that I already sanded down the throttle sleeve. They are going to be in touch with the supplier. The grips I have say they are "universal" and that they should fit. I think I am just going to send them back and get them to send me the right ones. They can also replace the throttle sleeve. I'm just a tad pissed off. :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/>
I'll know more tomorrow when I get back in touch with them and hear what the supplier says.

Those glue bottles are always empty. Actually I think they did have glue in them but they dry out by the time they get to the customer.

That sucks! I could not figure out what was happening with yours, just seemed a lot more complicated to install that in should be, not it all makes sense.

No glue needed? Man, get your money back and go somewhere else.

The throttle side should come with the sleeve pre-installed. No glue needed. The left side needs glue, but the bottle typically comes either empty or dried up - either way, useless.

The part number is KY-6235
