Parking Lot Practice

Part of riding fun is riding safely. So, if there is sufficient interest, I will do my best to organize and host a PLP.

I've read more than a few posts by riders who struggle at slow speed [of course those fast corners can get you too!]

I'm thinking of one of the first three Sunday's in September when it's a little cooler. If there's enough interest, I'll put up a poll for dates. It would be best to plan in a central place like Orlando if someone has a site, if not, there is a site in Melbourne that's used for the beginners course.

Cones are set out and we practice, slalom, avoidance turns, slow ride and those pesky u-turns. Full riding gear will be required and waivers for liability. All riding is done at slow speeds and is intended to improve our riding skill. More experienced riders will demo how to do the different course pieces and those riding two up are encouraged to practice with their rider as well.

Of course we end with a lunch ride and a good time is had by all. So, post up with thoughts,

Jim

I remember doing that in the MSF class...Easy enough on the 125 cc. Then trying to do it during the advanced MSF class on your own bike....Just a little more difficult.

I have some training wheels that my players gave me as a gag gift, that and some of those pretty handlebar streamers.

Can we put playing cards in our spokes.... Crap, no spokes.

Jim, are you going to let us use the Goldwing for practice? I promise not to crash it..really!

All kidding aside, sounds like a good idea.

Nice to hear some interest -

Leeanne and I both do these with the Wings...I'll have her demonstrate but then you'll have to follow her!!

As soon as I get the video of her riding the Iron Cross practice course on her Wing, I'll post a link.

Anyway, the local Wings have a safety coordinator and I plan to talk him into helping us [me] with the set up.

It's alot of fun - oh you also learn how to pick up your bike [properly]. Last weekend a Harley rider joined us and we showed him he could stand his by himself.

More to follow,

Jim

I thought I'd post this link to give some bystanders a little motivation to sign up for some parking lot time. Check out the you tube links...

That's a little too far for me to attend. I'll have to get a group around here to practice with me. Great idea!

Wah wah wah...what you really meant to say is "I really don't want to spend quality time with YOU people and even if it were 2 miles from my house I wouldn't be caught dead riding with YOU people"

What is a little 1,400 mile round trip ride between pals? Huh? How 'bout being spontaneous and just throwing caution to the wind? Come on horsegirl...you know you want to. Don't be a Bumblebee.

Mrs. Jim [aka Leeanne] said we have a guest room and are willing to house up to 4 if there is an out of town contingent. We will be firming the date soon.

CoachA - do you and Mike have a date preference in September? I know someone will be back in school....

how can Kawgirl say no now?
