Rally Packing List...

Here is a generic packing-list that may help you to double-check your packing for the rally-trip.

It might even jog your memory for items you might be forgetting that are not on the list.

As a suggestion... carry your ICE Card on your person. In the event of an accident it will be with you... not on the bike where EMT's cannot find it or have time to look for it. ;)

Rally Packing List...

That is a good suggestion for the list. Does anyone have a link to a printable ICE card, about credit card size?

Follow this link, then scroll down. You'll see a pdf-file for an ICE card; or at least the information form you should carry.

This one is not a "card-size" but will work.

Rally Packing List...

I've had one of those in my saddlebag since the first rally I attended, I was just wanting one to put in my wallet. I found one here http://www.medids.com/free-id.php You fill it out then size it to your liking, then print it out. I thought it would be a good thing to also have one in the wallet, as well as one in the saddlebag................just in case.

That's a good site for that. Thanks for posting it.

At least keep one on yourself for certain. "You" will be where they find "you"... if you know what I mean.

The bike on the other hand... who knows where it would be and in what condition it may be in. For that matter is could be on fire and there goes the ICE card. ;)

Rally Packing List...

Good point about having it on your person.
While not quite the same situation, back in the late 80's I was T-boned while driving a ragtop Jeep CJ-5. Escaped injury, but the Jeep was totaled. The impact destroyed the passenger door (also rag type) and bent the entire Jeep in a slight "u shape". which sprung the glove compartment open and all of my paperwork (vehicle registration, insurance ID, etc) flew out on to the road and was immediately blown away, as it was a very windy day. The responding police officer wrote up the other driver for running a red light, and then wrote me up for not having proof of insurance and registration in the vehicle. When I explained to him that I did, and if he would look off in the distance he could see the papers blowing through the field, he just shrugged his shoulders and said tough luck, he has to issue a citation for anything he deems is illegal. SOB actually wrote me up! It was, of course, dismissed when I went to court (along with a reprimand from the judge directed toward the cop about wasting everyone's time), but I had to take a day off work and waste a few hours in the court room.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but this just reminded me of that incident.
now, back to rally packing conversation. :)

Looks like a very complete list Greg.

Daryl, that is the way a lot of law enforcement officers are. It is a shame it has to be that way with a few jerks.

Rally Packing List...

I had my ICE form in the mesh compartment of my LH hardbag, after my crash the bags got blown apart and everything was all over the highway. We never did find my cell phone or air compressor, but did find the ICE form on the highway.

The ICE card on your person is a must. Also, if you are taking any MEDS, a list of what they are and their strenghts would be good as well.

Hi Daryl,
I'm a Trooper and I agree that giving you a summons was lame. An officer should take in the totality of the circumstance in making a decision. Dawg, you would think he could see that you suffered enough. Dumb stuff like that gives us law enforcement folks a bad name. Great Packing List Greg.

Thanks Gerald. Actually, most of my LEO experiences have always been positive, and I have a lot of respect for law enforcement. But people are people, and you find some really great folks and some unhappy ones in any vocation. No worries.
