Recall

ECU recall. No big deal right? Nope. The dealer has to have your bike in the shop, part removed and IN TRANSIT to OEM before Maw Kaw will send the dealer a replacement part. Bike is down 3 to 5 days.

Thanks a ton Kawasaki!

Find another dealer. I rode mine in so they could verify the vin and produce a work order and order the part. Once the new ecu came in, I went to dealer...took no longer than 10 or 15 min.

Why would the dealer want your bike plugging up their service area for 3-5 days?? for a 15 minute fix that they get paid little for?

Wow..really?? Maybe I should have done that, my dealer told me it was the OEM that was directing the way this was handled! Either way, it's to late now, I just dropped off the bike.

Normally it would not be a big deal as I have two bikes, but both bikes have a recall at the same time, and I have a ride this Saturday I really wanted to go on.

I might be getting spooled up over nothing as both bikes could be repaired by Friday..we'll see.

When my shock failed, the dealer ordered two new ones on extended warranty. They let me install the new ones so I had to bring the old shocks in and swapped for the new ones.

My dealer did the same thing. Ordered the part, then gave me a call when it came in. I rode down there and they took it in right away and in about 15 minutes it was done. I didn't even have time to take a good look at what new bikes they had on the floor.

Ray2--based on your avatar pic, looks like you're in northern Minnesota somewhere.

Mine goes in tomorrow. They asked if I could hang around because it was a 30 minute job at the most.

Dealer told me the ECU cost around 1,000.00 if I had to pay for it instead of getting it done through the recall.

Wow, the original post was March of 2011.
That was 2 years and 4 months ago.
Some of you guys are just getting around to having the problem with the ECU fixed
