Yes, but the only thing about mounting lites on the bags is when you have to take the bags off to change tire or whatever, you must have long wires, and be careful not to damage them.
I mounted some brake lites on my trunk but have yet to find a place under the seat to connect the wire?

The wires for the rear lights go thru a grommet on the front end of the rear fender under the front seat. then run to the back under the fender.

Another option...On the 1600 the rear end light cable can be found under the seat between the fender and battery. You can tie your wires in at that point and route them between the fender strut and fender. Your bags hide any exposed cable. If you use a light gage black sheathed 3 conductor it makes for a clean installation. You can buy it by the foot at any Home Depot or Lowes. Harness connectors can be found at automotive stores or on line and allow you to disconnect your bags when needed.
