I'm going to repeat again because this happened to me. When you mount this big tire leave your acorn nuts on the gear box loose. Torque your axle nut first then torque your gear box nuts. Otherwise you'll pull your shaft tube into your tire. Like VulcanE says, you'll have three cards or 3 mm clearance between your tire and tube. Mine has never rubbed.
Thanks, I'm going to let the shop know this :)

I only use Dynabeads since my second set of tires. 3 oz in the car tire, 2 oz in the front.

I used the stickon weights, but only needed them on the front tire, The car tire was spot on with no weight at all. I'll bet that doesn't happen too often.

I have ridden Nomads with both tires, and ride wise, one is as good as the other. The 205 is taller than the 195, but the speedo still reads fast. Check it out......

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
Does it still give it a softer ride then the MC with the stiffer sidewall?

Looks like that one and the one I was looking at are the same all most

I seen your post ( I think ) on the other forms as well if I'm not mistaken about running this C/T

Thanks for your and Cajunriders help on this !
Yes, the ride is softer and smoother than it was with any of the other 5 MC tires on the rear (1- Bridgestone, 3- Metzeler's, And 1- Avon Cobra). The first time my wife rode with me after installing the GYTT,she asked what I had done to the bike, because it rode so much smoother than before. She also said that it felt more stable in the corners. I use a tire pressure monitoring system, and found that if my pressures are 41 front, and 32 rear (when the tires are hot) is when the best ride and handling is achieved. The ambient temperature (time of the year) has a lot to do with what the "cold" pressure will be to achieve the heated up pressure. This time of the year, here in N. Georgia the cold pressure will be 37 front, and 30 rear. In the hot months, the cold pressure will be 34 front, and 28 rear. I have just over 8,000 miles on the GYTT, and it shows minimal wear, and 15,000 miles on the front (Avon Cobra in stock size but a radial 150/80VR-16), and can get probably another 3 or 4 thousand out of it. This combo, IMO, is as good as you can get. I do run 3 ozs. of Dyna-beads in the rear, and have 2 ozs. in a bag for when I replace the front, and it will be another V-rated Avon Cobra.
Some things to remember..........
:Install like Mike said, last thing is to tighten is the final drive to the swing arm.
:You will have to remove the final drive to get the tire under the bike, so now would be an excellent time to do the swing arm and driveshaft maintenance. Make sure to replace the seals on both sides of the swing arm. This is important to get the best ride and handling out of your bike.
:Start out with 40 psi in the tire for ~500 miles to break it in, then, with the tire hot, find you a good long sweeping curve and make runs through it. Drop your pressure 2 or 3 psi, and make the run again. Do this until you find the best "feel". This will be your "sweet spot". Until I found my "sweet spot" it did ride like a 2 horse wagon. Also, make sure both shocks have EQUAL pressure.
After the break-in, and getting used to it, I think you'll love this tire. I don't know about any other front tire combo with this tire, but I do know the Cobra is an excellent partner for this tire. ;)

Man, thanks for the reply, loads of great info!!

Great advise, I'm going to follow that

Did you take everything off yourself and do the seals ect your self?

I have a motorcycle jack, and am really good with mechanic's, but I never removed a rear tire/rim

I'll order the Dyna beads today

If you have a jack and feel the slightest bit froggy------jump on it! It's not that difficult, and its rewarding, and you'll have the confidence that the job was done right. If you'll go to the Tech Board under Periodic Maintenance Macmac has an excellent step by step procedure written.

You may want to consider adding a grease fitting as per Gadgets site. Thats up to you.

fltekdriver, it's not that hard of a job to do, just a little time consuming. You need to go ahead and order your swing arm seals, because the dealer probably won't have them in stock. The part number is 92049-1181, and you'll need two of them. Also you'll need a torque wrench. Good luck!

My tire man was not happy with my dyna beads. Recently, he showed me some beads on the floor of his shop where he changed a tire for me last year. He said they are hard to clean up and go everywhere when you change tires. Just FYI.

Dyna Beads are clean, natural, and efficient. Heaven forbid we dirty the tire mans floor.

He must not have known the tire had the beads in it. I just recently changed mine and none of the beads came out when I removed the tire from the rim. It was very easy to scoop them up from inside the tire. They're now in the new tire.
