6 weeks to begin riding season...

Well, those in the North Central Group are fast coming to the end of our winter; and the beginning of the riding season.

In about six weeks, I hope to be riding a bit, just as I have been able to do every year.

I know there are a few in the region who have ridden a bit during this winter; which I believe was unusual for them, but none the less, I am glad they were able to. I was not, as the roads were never quite clear enough for my taste.

Winter, thus far, did not treat us too bad though -- despite a few storms and short spells of -20 degree weather.

I'm hoping to be riding in six weeks. The last couple of years that certainly hasn't been the case, hence the low miles of riding in 2013 and 2014.

Riding season started this weekend. Finally dry country roads to get to the highway. Plus we hit 72 on saturday.

It is usually the 2nd or 3rd week of April before I venture out on the bike.

My riding is primarily commuting. With a family at home, it's about all I can do for the most part. I still get in 8K miles a year on average. When I have the time, I will ride more.

By June it's in full swing. We get about 4 months of hell at most. It's not easy though.

Saw a few out this weekend, weather was gorgeous yesterday, I opt to wait, too much sand and gravel still on the roads. That stuff is like hitting an ice patch...
