06/07 are digital. Thats all i know. analog require a speedo cable and they dont have that direct link like a vstar 650 has for instance.

I agree with VC. The confusing thing is the analog style readout, speedometer dial, but I believe that the signal that drives the speedo needle is digitaly derived. BD?

Are you in a project with the speedometer and its important to know this or is this just a general knowledge thing you want to know? I've been asked "so whats your point" before so i guess thats what i'm asking.

If it dont have a physical speedo cable going right into the speedo which would make a mechanical speedo then yes it would be digital. Regardless of the year.

sorry doc, didn't mean for it to sound that way! I get a lot of PM's on things that send me on a scavenger hunt instead of solving a problem! If I have no reason to ponder why the need to know the difference is, it sounds like I'm hunting down a "trivial pursuit" question!

Trip want's my experience in motorcycling to be available and that's what I'm here for. Not to pick on anyone but I hope to answer "theory" questions or can or can't I do that and why. Opinions on motorcycles.

Remember Nico's "I need you to do a complete instructional transmission teardown" spoof? Funny yes, but those questions come.

Questions should be posted as a PM to me or email to blowndodge@kawanow.org. I see a lot of "BD will chime in here". I really don't surf the entire board to see if there is a question somewhere out there so when I see one and a request for my answer and the question isn't solving an issue it really isn't a question for me to chime in. I just want everyone to know that. Even Nico! and he is really a pain in the arshole!!!

I'm not done learning and I ask questions all the time. Some things I can tell you for sure I know and some I will give you my best guess to my "opinion" and you'll know its just an opinion and not an actual fact that I've experienced. then of course the favorite "I have no freeking idea!" one of my favorites lines!
