hissing from gas cap

ok I have an 08 1600 nomad and after going for a ride I park it and I can hear a hissing at 1st I didn't know where and located it coming from the cap if I pop open the tank I get a rush of air if I close it again it will start to hiss it will go on for several mins. Is this normal or is there somthing that I need to look at? any help would be great thanks guys.

My 2006 does the same thing .Pressure in the tank releasing causes the noise.

its normal, mine does the same thing, i just open the cap to relieve the pressure, may have to do a couple times, its made to do that

My 08 does this as well. I am curious if this is normal for both emissions models. I have a California emissions equipped model.

Mine is the non california emissions nomad and it has done it since I bought it in late 2005.

It's pretty normal. My 2006 has done it since new. I just consider that it's singing it's contentment after a nice ride.

It's normal, someone summed it up best on here a while back. "Your Nomad is crying cause the ride is over"

My 2007 did it since new, it is a CA emissions model as well. It no longer hisses, because I removed the tiny mylar diaphragm from the cap vent.

hmm i guess 1st thing in the morning I will go out in the garage and look for a tiny mylar diaphragm. then go for a ride muhahahaha

My 06 Nomad did that, drove me crazy, from Gadget's site here is the fix I used to stop this permanently.

Thats one quirck on the bike that has never bothered me enough to to anything about. Not like that steering wobble.

The fix is a Gremlin Bell!

I just thought I was riding her too hard and could not really tell if that was from satisfaction or not. As soon as my back surgery allows, I will try to hear if she gets happy again!!!

You don't need to ride to hear this, all you need is something called the SUN! Park the bike in the sun and the gremii starts to sing...

There still is the sun right? You know that brght white ball up in the sky? I ain't seen it in a while, but I hope it's still up there somewhere. One day it dropped over the mountains to my west and it ain't been back since.

I suspect either CJ or BD swipped it.
