Loud pipes

I was on a charity ride today, sponsored by a large HD dealer in the Phoenix area and its H.O.G. Chapter. You can guess what 99.5% of the thousands of participants were riding.

I rode with a bunch of guys from work. I am the red headed stepchild of the bunch, the only non-HD bike. So we stopped for a break in Camp Verde, about 70 miles north of Phoenix. One of the guys I was riding with asked me if those were new pipes, and I said that he had seen them before. He had been following me for about 30 miles up some steep grades. He told me "dude, those pipes are LOUD, especially when you open it up on those grades!" He rides a Road King that seems pretty loud to me.

That totally made my day.

What's ironic about this is that I did a ride with these same guys from work late last summer. It was an overnight ride to Pinetop, AZ via the Coronado Trail. On the way back to the valley, I got tired of not being able to hear my own bike amidst 5 Harleys and that's when I decided to buy aftermarket pipes. I ordered them the next day.

Yeah, if someone told me my pipes were so loud they couldn't hear their bike it would totally make my day. ;)
The Drifter I just bought is loud. I emailed the PO and asked what kind of pipes were on it and he didn't know. I told him I was going to try and quiet it down and he said that was funny. If he kept it he was going to try and make it louder.

Maybe I'm just to sensitive a guy :-[

Hey Lar, it has been off the road for 2 years. It is at the dealers now. they are going over it and checking everything for me. As soon as I get it back I will post a pic.
You will see it at Lake George 'cause Cindy is going to ride it up to the Rally..
