Stereo for the 2k

I just bought a fairing for my 06 2k. Not a lot of traffic on any 2k forums, so I thought I would ask some questions here.

The fairing is made for a standard car radio cutout, but someone said it would drain the battery constantly. I was planning on installing an aux fuse box on a relay to switched power. I don't care about losing radio stations and things like that, however, I don't want to lose my Bluetooth connection to my phone.

If you have a fairing (aftermarket), what do you do for your radio to make sure that you always have the tunes on tap, and that your ride starts?

Thanks!

Mine is wired just as you described. Aux fuse panel with a relay that's tripped when the bike turns on. I don't know if the 2K has an aux wire under the seat that you can use as a trigger. The aux wire under my seat only comes on when the bike is turned on.

I have a switched power source in the headlight bucket. That's what I will be tying into, hopefully. I don't like wiring (it scares me) so I am going to try to con Jared into giving me a hand when I get all the parts.

Anyways, do you have problems with the battery drain or losing all your saved settings on the head unit?

The stereo has a memory wire so I never loose a setting. You shouldn't have any battery issues if you wire it up the way that you described. The stereo won't work until the bike is turned on. The only way that I can see you killing the battery with the stereo is if you turn the key and stereo on and leave it that way without the engine running. As long as the engine is running it will charge the battery.

when I did my fairing I installed a eager beaver fuse block to run power to horns -radio-aux lights has one side of always hot one side of switched works great no stacking of connecters on the battery
