Why ?

This post is definitely controversial however it IS NOT intended to diminish in ANY WAY the credit that is due to Trip for all the time & hard work he has and continues to devote to this site ! ! ! ! !

I joined this club because it had everything I was looking for. At times I need some tech advice. Sometimes I am looking for some parts others have to sell. Sometimes I like to hear the new industry news.... Other forums have that stuff (like VROC) so what set this one apart? This forum has/had was that "lighter side" forum where the crazy group hangs out. In a short time I saw the folks who are "over the top" I saw the one liner artists... I even saw guys that looked like they were a bit out of place but liked to occasionally drift over and dip their toe in the crazy but never dive in... but it was there for everyone even if it wasn't your thing... the warning was posted... don't like it don't go in there. I know that in this area (Off-Nomad topics) that it gets tied up in politics from time to time. Not what I'm looking for... so I don't GO THERE. The lighter side area has the second most posts. Why? cause it is the "hanging out with my friends having a beer or two" flavor that people don't get other places.

I just don't get the latest censorship. I get it in other areas like this one but there should exist one area where the rules, if any, are wide open. If not you will have a real nice web site... just like all the rest.

This ? was thoroughly explained in the thread by Trip. Asking why at this juncture is moot. We are moving on..

Yo bez,

I understand where you are coming from.......I too like the "hangin out with friends" part of this site....it takes a bunch, and I mean a bunch, to offend me..... (pretty much gotta be illegal in 48 of the 50 states )

But here's the deal and the way I am taking it......I am still treating the lighter side and the off nomad topic side the same way and hope it continues to be like hanging out with friends drinking a beer or twelve.........in my opinion, that atmosphere IS what makes this site kinda different from the others that I avoid like the plague.

It just won't have the nudi pics there anymore :( :( but I hope everyone will still keep it fun with their smarta$$ remarks and fun stuff......I think the netnanny is being adjusted and if not.....we can still type a$$ or something like "BD is a dumbs**t"

So hang out and help make it fun..........speak whenever you wanna speak......drink whenever you wanna drink....but buy me one too. .... and keep posting some funny crap cause you are a member .

Oh, If you need some other good sites to see pics, PM me.....I might know a guy that knows a guy that can recommend some.......and give me time to review my favorites list

Todd

You guys have spent substantial time putting this together... and I appreciate it The FIRST sentence pointed that out.

Take my other comments as a "customer service" survey. It could tell why people join, stay, and actually participate. I thought that was the point. I am not pissed about the situation I am just giving a suggestion and an opinion.

I will still be around (for a while anyway)cause I met some folks I like... and you to (see I cant help it) but I'm just saying that if the restrictions get to tight this thing will evolve into 5 guys talking for 3 hours on the valve cover torque specs and the best brand of heated socks... then BD will be wondering where all his buddies were that he used to push around.

2bez I wasn't trying to push you around. Trip proclaimed on the open forum that this matter is over. I was reiterating his remarks. Not forcing mine. He's the boss.

If members feel the need to keep asking about this sensorship ordeal and why Trip made his decision, asking it yet again is just calling him out to the mat again. I'd like to give the man a break. He made his ruling, good or bad and you posted why yet again.

Saying his decision about the porn (adressing again) will lead to a suffocating of ideas and topics is one heck of a stretch 2bez. I know the western get together won't be the same if we can't post naked pictures anymore!! How depressing is that?

Everyone knows beer leads to heroin...

It is true I have been off line for about four days and I may not have seen any of the other "why" questions. All I saw was the threads starting to disappear and then saw the new announcement at the top.

What I read (or at least heard) was more than just pics it was related to language. I haven't posted pics and thought that some of the things posted are over the edge... MY EDGE... but I think it is appropriate to have that freedom somewhere on the site. You can put a negative spin on it by throwing the word "porn" around but the fact is (IMHO) this site differentiates itself from the others by allowing such a wide range of forums... from politics to porn. (wait those are basically the same thing) You get the point.

I'm a former Marine, so nothing any of you guys can say would frighten , surprise or offend me. I have thick skin. Like I told Trip, there are millions of places you can go on the web to see porn (just ask BD) . I don't care if it's here, but I don't come here to see it. This is a Nomad owners group, not Busty Teen Babes on Ecstacy.com (BTW - thanks for that one, BD! ;))

It's Trip's show, and I think he was being magnanimous by at least soliciting our opinions. As he stated, he wants this site to be taken seriously by Kawasaki and by the dealers. I'm not so sure that could be accomplished with a "no-holds-barred" atmosphere. He will run his organization how he wants to run his organization, and that should be respected.

Sure didn't mean to sound like I was biting your head off, sorry. I like your humor and time you spend here. I do get the point. I'm a little worked over from the topic and at the PM's I got from the tiny few that called me a commie pinko sell out back stabbing...you name it, just for going along with Trip's idea. How's that for diplomacy?? I kept these awful PM's just in case another lost soul tries to voice how terrible I've been in standing with Trip on this issue so I can show the board there was WAY more to it than that.

Contrary to what is believed I think opening the board to more people and appealing to a wider range of audience was fine and was overdue. I didn't want it to be part of the "good ol boyz club" with only a few opinions that mattered. Like I said, I got the PM's stating just that. "Screw the newbies it's our board"!! That wasn't cool with me.

Don't shoot the messenger 2bez. I'm cool with you...always will be.

I really don't get the problem all the whiners are having.
It's the same damn site it always was. Friends talking and interacting with friends about a variety of subjects. The only difference is there will be no pictures of nudity and some of your words will look like this 2******z ;).
Let it go. The decision was made. Get on with the fun stuff.
Riding and talking about motorcycles.

Good point... Lets but another bidness concept on the table...If you have 50,000 members Kawasaki will take you seriously... have 10 members they will not.
