Cactus, I read more blogs than I have commented on. I kept up with yours and it was fun seeing where you went and what it was like.

I suppose you now need a vacation, to get over your vacation huh?

CJ's Custer Adventures

Let me just say as CJ's traveling companion for over 2K miles, I've not had the privilege of riding with such an even tempered, easy to get along with individual.

I've enjoyed being chided for low miles on my Nomad but as some I've spoken with, I have well over 250K of highway motorcycle miles from over 30 years of riding. I've taken many trips up and down the Pacific Coast with a variety of friends.

I can't remember enjoying anyone's company as much as Scott's. We, Tom and I, let Scott lead because he was towing all his belongings in his trailer! I figured a slow pace might be in store and that was just fine with me.

Oh no! Not Scott! My speedometer needle was always on 75MPH most of the way and that's with an accurate speedometer! Him and I seemed to know when the other had had enough of riding and needed a stop! I would say at the next rest stop how glad I was he pulled over and he would say the same to me whenever I led. Just good harmony among us.

The ride home was really tough as he outlined it. I took off from Hurricane on I 15 on the last day alone and had 85 MPH smooth sailing until I got to Mesquite. Then it was back to 20 MPH headwinds all the way to San Bernardino! We both had headwinds and rain the entire final 700 miles of riding. I got home and slept for 4 hours. Nothing like a Flexeril and a cold beer for throbbing shoulder and back muscles!

Thanks CJ !!! Your one heck of a good rider and easy going Character. Great laughter, good beer and food. I look forward to riding with you again!

Thank you everone! This was a "Bucket List" dream come true!

Would that be work, Dan? I have to go back to the office tomorrow. Today I am cleaning 3500 miles of road grime off my bike and giving her fresh oil and a filter. Her reward for a job well done.

I fixed my lighting problems. The switched 12v connection to my front fuse block wasn't tight, which is why my driving lights and cruise control were acting up. I also found the wire to my right front LED (in place of the amber reflector near the caliper) had come loose, and that has been fixed as well.

Thanks for the kind words, BD. I have ridden with lots of people who are high-maintenance and nothing but one issue after another. You weren't one of them. A long trip like this is both stressful and tiring and I can't say enough for having a riding partner that is both responsible and experienced. Thanks for sharing the road with me.

Scott,
I have really enjoyed your photo documented "play by play" acct. of the your travels. Very well done.
I want to say that it was a real pleasure finally meeting you. Meeting all the people in Custer, was great. I only wish there was more time that allowed for breaking bread and drinking beer with you and a select few. The next rally for sure.

Thanks Scott for all of the pictures and the stories. You traveled through some beautiful territory. Great job putting all of this together.

CJ,
Excellent report and photos. I kinda wanted to wait until you were home so I could read the whole thread. It was great experience for all of us (Brent, Mike and Vic notwithstanding). Can't wait to do it all again!

Thanks for the positive comments, folks. Well, except for yours, Darlene! ::)

I figured we'd all have 100 photos of Devil's Tower, Rushmore, etc. I wanted to post a few pics from my travels. I'm not as prolific a shutterbug as Dan, I haven't quite mastered the skill of taking pictures while riding yet.

The little $120 Panasonic Lumix camera I bought to carry in my pocket takes as good or better pictures than the $350 Canon I kept in the saddlebag most of the time.
