For Those BC/AB/Washington Members...

For those members in BC/AB and the greater Seattle/Everett area planning to make the run to Crecent City next August for the 2011 KawaNOW "Rally in the Redwoods"....now is the time to start planning your itinerary.

It would be nice if we could make the run as a group, but feel free to find your own way there....it's all good. It is a two day ride from Everett, WA to Crescent City, CA....so we need to plan and make reservations for our stopovers. Those coming from farther north will have some additional stopovers as well. The plan would be to leave the Everett area on Sunday, Aug 21, 2011

We can all make the reservations for CC after the first of the year as I have rooms blocked out at a selected location. Given the fact we will have to spend one night on the Oregon Coast enroute to CC, we should book those rooms ASAP as OC rooms get booked way in advance.

Lincoln City is just past the halfway point, so it would be a good place to stop, and the Best Western Landmark Inn would be a great place to rest for the evening of Sunday, Aug 21, 2011.

http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwest...operty-_-38125

That is just over 300 miles from Everett, but the going can be slow on the OC, so you have to adjust....but we can make that in a day no problem. From there it will be 250 miles to Crescent City....all along the beautiful Oregon Coast. Just some food for thought as we start to think about our plans for next year. Drop a note here if you think you might like to ride along enroute to the rally!

hey Kris .... Our plan is to attend the rally and we would be happy to ride with you and Tricia. Of course its a bit early to be 100% sure that we could get the time to go, but we will prepare as if it is. We would show up in your area the day before the planned departure from your place. l'm looking forward to the OC part of the trip!!

On another note, I went for a short ride yestereday. It was sunny and about 10C. I dressed up with what I thought would be adequate but, by the time I got home, I was quite chilled. Riding season is almost over for me. :(

Hey Lomax, I was riding comfortably @ 20F with a Tour-Master liner set and gloves plugged into the Nomad until the wife fished tailed on an ice patch. I still ride to 40F but the liners never get above the low setting. I can't imagine riding in temps that would require the High setting. Us not going out below 40F is a safety decision to keep the wheels on the bottom.

I'm also hoping to make the ride for this rally. I'm expecting/hoping to be recovered from the next knee operation that should be taking place very soon. There's an expected 3-6 months recovery from this reconstructive surgery. So that should work without any problem. I'm hoping to do the National Rally as well, in June. So Mike as time gets closer lets plan to hook up somewhere along the way. I'm hoping maybe Elvis and hammer will be doing the ride too.

Hey Mark
well, 20F is just a little to cool for me to be out riding and the thought of hitting ice just scares the chit outa me! I also don't have any heated gear.

Rick
It would be great to hook up with you and E andwhoever else might be heading to the WestCoast Rally come August. Seeing as we would be riding right past your door, its a no brainer that we should ride south together! :)

Mike

Kris, I don't think it's going to work with us hooking up at your place for the night. We plan on taking four days to get there , and each day will be around 6 hours in the saddle. We're coming down through Roger's Pass through to Coeur d'Alene then on to Portland, then the final leg south to Crescent City. Everett is just a bit too far West for us to deviate to meet you. We may hook up in Portland but I'm not sure of your route yet.

No worries Kevin....our route will take us down Hwy 101 from Astoria the entire length of the Oregon Coast. We will catch 101 just south of Aberdeen, WA and ride as much of the coast as possible. You definitely have a ways to ride to make it to Crescent City!
