TIRES??????????????
ok fellows. it's time to replace the rubber. i bought my '03 in summer of '06. it still had the original bridgestone on the front with about 5'400 miles on it and the dealership put a new dunlop d404 on the back. i still have the stone on the front and the 404 on the back with 15,600 miles on the bike. both need to be replaced now. price is a factor here. what i found so far for best price is $183.00 for both front and back d404's with dennis kirk matching lowest price. should i spend the extra $ and get the mets 880's. the stone was noisy and the 404 seemed ok but i have nothing to compare it to. thanks guys!!

TIRES??????????????
When you get to talking about tires there may be as little as $20-$30 between brands. How much confidence are you willing to sacrifice to save the price of one tank of gas?
Decide on which tire you want FIRST then shop around for the best price. I went with Cobras on my 06 and it was around $350 installed. The metz were only about $35 less for the pair. It all comes down to personal preference but don't buy a tire just because it is cheap. You may find it is not that great of a deal. |

TIRES??????????????
If I were going w/ Dunlop.....I would probably look into the Elite III's......maybe a little more, but a nicer tire IMHO.

TIRES??????????????
I have a friend with an '03 1500, and he really likes the Dunlop 404s. The 1500 has a different size rear than the 1600, so I don't think you'll be able to get the Cobras, but Metzeler offers a set.

TIRES??????????????
just got my dunlop e 3 rear in today. Friday starts the work of changing it. GRR - should be riding, not turning a wrench.

TIRES??????????????
I think I've narrowed it down to e 3's or the metz. I've even thought about doing the wide white wall. Don't know yet. It's a crime what they want to mount the things. Best around here is about $110.00. Wish I could at least take them off and take the wheels to them but the back says no. It would save about $60.00. I'll stop my crying. Small price to pay to be able to ride.

TIRES??????????????
Haven't heard much bad about the E 3s. That's what I went with this time after being reasonably pleased with ME880s the last few years. Went with the 160/80B rear for hopefully better life (than the radial) and higher load rating.

TIRES??????????????
I bought my rear tire from these guys.I went with the Bridgestone G850 radial.THe performance difference between the stock stone and radial is unbelievable.
http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/ The stealership charged me $130 to change the tire on my Nomad, but only $60 to change the rear tire on my Boulevard. They said the extra cost was due to removing the saddlebags. For $70,I would take the time (5 minutes) to remove them before I took it in. |

TIRES??????????????
I haven't pulled the trailer yet. I just bought it a few days ago.
As far as the swing arm service,I do most of my service myself and, with the help of you guys around here,I will continue to do so. I didn't think I had the tools to change the tire at the the time. I have learned not to limit myself to certain tasks until I get advice/guidence around here. |
