For those with carb'd 1500s..
What all have you done as far as pipes, intake and exhaust?
I have a gutted goats belly, and I would like to remove the baffles but I am afraid that I would be going down a slippery slope of having to do intake and jetting too. Not that I mind doing those things, but what if they don't stop the issues, or worse? Who has done what to their carb'd bikes? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

On my bike (99') I removed the original exhaust and replaced it with a V&H bagger set. Wasn't keen with the way it ran; so it was re-jetted. Mileage increased and it sounded more like a motorcycle. I wished I had R&R the exhaust sooner. It was a great mod. The goat belly is just ugly, IMHO.
Can't speak to the debaffle. I have considered changing the intake; however I just have not talked myself into it. I tried a Caddman set up on the right side only with out a re-jet and it didn't run well. I will probably try a 8 1/2 inch Moroso and a K&N filter with a re-jet in the near future.

I debaffled with no other mods (00, 1500). Ran it that way a while and then welded them back in. I just debaffled again and have be trying different things to try and change the sound. I may go with the Valkyrie tips next.

On our Honda VTX, we do a thing called a "Clayton Mod" named after the first user to try it.
Basically you drill 15/32 holes in the end of your exhaust so that a large portion of your exhaust goes right past the baffels. If you drill too many holes, or you see a performance decrease, you can use a 1/2 inch, self tapping bolt and fill as many holes back in as you want. I think I am going to try this instead of the full blown debaffle. There's less committment involved. ;) Login or Register to Remove Ads |

After looking closely at the pipes, a clayton mod would be difficult.
