PhatII Riser Problem Question
Installed the new risers (Needed the extra pull back they offered over Chuckster's. Sorry Chuck.)
Because mine is a 1500 I had to use the offset holes on the risers to avoid having them hit the speedo cowling. Now I see part of a circular scratch pattern on the aluminum tree caused by the stock risers when they were installed. I only see about one-third of the circle scratches -- but it bugs the hell out of me and looks like... well you know. I would like to hear any and all ideas anyone might have on how to either remove the scratches or something that I could place between the tree and the risers that is larger than the risers to cover the scratches. A piece of thin aluminum; plastic ??? ??? I hope this makes sense; and someone has an idea or two -- and where I could find what you may suggest. Thanks, Greg

PhatII Riser Problem Question
Get yourself a chrome triple tree cover for the top, and say goodbye to the scratches..

PhatII Riser Problem Question
I checked a lot of sites this evening and didn't find any that would fit my '04 Nomad. Will keep looking a bit further.

PhatII Riser Problem Question
Another cheap idea would be to buy some of that cheap, chrome, sticker paper and put it on top of your triple tree. Sense it's a flat surface, it should stick without bubbles and look fine.
If you don't like it, you can easily remove it and your only out a few bucks.

PhatII Riser Problem Question
Can you buff it out with some rubbing compound or would that make it worse?

PhatII Riser Problem Question
Bob: I have had good luck with simichrome polish for blemishes and small scratches on some aluminum parts in the past. Takes a lot of elbow grease but it is worth it so long as it is not gouged from the stock risers.
Comes in a small tube and can be found at most hardware and auto parts stores. |

PhatII Riser Problem Question
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Ultimately I was able to locate a chrome triple-tree cover from another member here that picked-up on my question. Got a good price and just received it today. Should have it installed by this weekend which should "cure" my obsession over the scratches.
In the meantime I did buy some extremely-fine-grit paper for metal and may just try rubbing/polishing that area just to see how it does -- if for no other reason but to know how it does just in case someone else ever asks. Who knows? It may work. If it doesn't -- I am covering it anyway. Regarding the chrome-tape idea... not all that bad of an idea. Didn't think of that; and it certainly would have been easy to do. Might have looked just fine. Borto -- I ck'd that cover previously -- it doesn't fit the 1500 -- even if it says it does -- which was part of my problem in locating one -- few of the vendors know what these things fit! Doc -- I tried the same but couldn't cover the circular scratches and I couldn't seem to just forget about them either. Everytime I sit on the bike my eyes went right to where these scratches are. Very annoying!! Anyway... I need to find out if the bike needs to be supported before removing the main fork-nut. It has to be removed, along with the risers, to put the chrome cover on. The fork-nut and risers are what keeps the cover on. If any of you know -- please let me know. I am going to post the question. Thanks again. Greg

PhatII Riser Problem Question
I installed my Phat II risers using the center hole. I ride a 1600, but I get about 2 or 3 mm of clearance on full turns. I get a little extra pullback using the center hole. Are you sure you can't use the center hole?
