Yes, crank journal can be reground and new bearings fitted. Yes, you can find a good, used -tight- assembly and install to cure current problem.
If it were me, I'd find a good used low mileage 1600 engine and install it for the fun and pucker power moments....
Then you'd have a spare engine should anything happen, or use it as trading stock for something else needed....

Yeah maybe a good used engine is a good idea but I'll first try to fix this one with used parts from the second engine, Just can't find time right know to continue tearing it apart, will post here with the progress. Old crankshaft and rods from second engine visually looks nice but of coarse I have to measure it and compare with another ones. Pistons and cylinders both good, clearance is good no need to change them.

A little update.
Another video with crankcase apart, sorry for quality its just a cellphone

There was actually no bearing insert on the front rod, only on the rear. Crankpin where front rod is connected is bad - rod digged it for almost 1.5 mm so crankshaft has to go now.

And a few pictures what conrod can do with crankshaft :

My guess is that only not enough oil could do it to crankshaft because not only crankpin but crankshaft main bearings are also bad

1/How in the hell did that not desruct.2/Who put it together like that.3/ Gives me a bit of faith in the robustness of these motors. If they can put up with that,i ought to stop worrying about the sound of mine.
