1700 Voyager Review

I especially like the Voyager fairing...why make one that looks like a Harley?
If I had the bucks I'd have a deposit down for the first one.

Here's an excellent review of all models of the VN1700s.

In this review, Joker points out that what some of us have felt as lack of room for the rider on the 1700 may really be more because of different positioning, that he eventually felt more comfortable with. I think our new owner, Sin City, made a similar comment. I know that there is a long standing argument that it is better to have your feet more under you than we are used to on our 1500/1600s.

One of the things in the article that I liked was the following:

"Accessories will be available before summer to include bag rails, billet tachometer, gel seats and a trunk kit...yes a trunk kit."

That was something I noted when I rode the 1700 Nomad, the floorboards are a few inches closer (either they have been moved back, or the seat moved forward) than on my 1600. Not a bad thing, just different than what I'm used to.

That article said the classic boards were farther forward. Since they're the same frame I wonder if the boards can be moved.

1700 Voyager Review

As I noted in another thread, the 1700 Nomad seat is very different than the 1500/1600 seat. There is a definite slant forward on the back of the rider section along with a sharp incline in the front of the seat. This tends to force your groin into a valley of sorts. Now I'm 5'9" and 170 on a good day...and I feel crunched in after an hour or riding. I have to believe that it will be worse for larger riders. That being said, a nice Corbin-style after market seat, one that is dished out in the back, should solve this. An expensive solution for sure, but one that will make this excellent bike ridable for long distances.
