1700 Voyager Review

I went to the International Motorcycle Show in Greenville S.C and looked at the Voyager. Saddle bags were a bit flimsy but everything ealse seemed ok for me. I talked with the rep there and he told me the bike was just a prototype and they were going to destroy it and redesign it.

Taking this at face-value is quite interesting. It certainly hasn't been a big hit here. Would they really do that?

If that rep is correct then we've all seen the Voyager they will destroy, and the question remains - does anyone know what the Voyager looks like?

Now, I wonder if they've finished the drive train, or is there nothing inside that 1700cc engine casing?

I'm sure the bike you seen at the show will be the bike the produce!
Bikes are in the prototype stage for a year or two before we ever get to see it. As far as changes to the Voyager,................maybe but I have my doubts.

Wonder what the real story is with Kawi, while they're jacking around its giving people a reason to look at other makes. This has got to be killing the dealers. I've talked with 2 dealers and they both tell me I know as much as they do about the new models. They all have orders in but have no idea what they will get. Now they are going to destroy and start over.
Maybe they should add 6 speed and cruise to the existing Nomad and come with the Voyager later.

1700 Voyager Review

Common sense made my option (finally). Keep my bike.

It is in great shape with reasonably low miles; and fits all my wife and I need in the saddle-bags and luggage we put on the luggage-rack... and it is paid-for in cash.

And last but not least... it is black (dark-bronze technically)!!!

Stopped by a local dealer yesterday and they said their Voyager order had been cut from 5 to 1 with a May delivery. That 1 wasn't sold yet. Nomads ordered weren't affected and are suppose to be there next month.

1700 Voyager Review

If Kawi would just redesign the bags and lower guards using a stronger less flimsy plastic and made the bags more in line with real Nomad bags ... The Voyager would be almost perfect. The Bags they are using now on the prototypes suck and the Nomads don't really have that Nomad feel or look to me. But that's just me ... (sheepish grin)

1700 Voyager Review

I went to the Greenville show yesterday (Saturday) and I really had a blast of a time there. The Kawi rep. told me that the 1700s would be in the dealers next month (except for the Voyager). He said that the Voyager wouldn't be out 'till mid May or early June, that they were "tweaking" a few things. I asked about performance comparisons, and he said that it would out preform the 2000 in all categories . I was impressed with the Voyager. Yes the bags and trunk did seem a little flimsy while opened (they all did, Harley, Yamaha, & Honda), but once closed, they were solid. My wife loved the Voyager, and said that after we wear out our Nad, That was what she wanted as a replacement.
The other bikes that I was impressed with were the Yamaha Silverado, Suzuki 109 tourer, and the Indian Classic.

If Kawasaki made the changes to the bike I would consider buying one.The Voyager is a great looking bike. I think she has the nicest rearend out their with her curvy lines, perfect size and you could bounce quarters off it if you don't mind a couple scratches. Madno????

Kawi would have been miles ahead if they had just taken the '08 platform, added a faring and trunk, cruise control...slapped the 1700 engine w/6 speed trans into her and left the bags alone. They would have had a lock on the whole market... !
