Cobra Fi 2000

After reading all the positive comments I decided to get the Cobra.I really haven't noticed any real problems with my 05 Nad except some pinging on mid grade gas.Seems to be ok with 93 octane. The fan does come on at traffic lights on a 90 degree day.The reason for my decision is I want a cooler running engine and not worrying about pinging.Everything is stock for the time being but that is always subject to change. My question is:Has anyone installed the Cobra 2000 on your stock bike and did you change the pot settings?Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated.

just installed the Cobra and I noticed a definate improvement on Idle and shifting between 1st & 2nd. The Bike feels a little stronger at top end roll-on also. settings have not been touched, and the bike is stock.
here in Az.,I did notice that the machine seems to run cooler, and fan comes on after parking at 100 degrees or more for a minute or so.I will monitor fuel consumption a bike has under 1000 miles on it.

My bike was stock when I installed the FI2000R two years ago. I did it mainly to eliminate pinging, which is especially bad here due to the heat. Since then I have added Cobra pipes and opened my intake with a Chuckster's 7" plate and K&N filter. Start out with the default pot settings of 3-5-0 and see how it works for you.

I don't usually counter Cj much, but I will this time. Sorry Cj.

You will just be using pots 1 and 2, so set all to off then set up pot 1 alone to best RPM cold, then leave the side cover off and go ride a little set pot 1 again warmed up well to best rpm. Find best by passing best both ways.

I doubt this will increase rpm so much on a other wise stock bike as to need to turn down the black air knob under the right side dog bowl.

Once you have best increase the value 1/8th (a smidgen more) You won't hear of feel any difference there. This 1/8th is between main numbers, as if there were 8 dots.

Then set 2 by seat of the pants road tests where you can exceed the legal speed limit safely.

IE air port, track, boonies road you checked out well first.

I am not always right here either. Not seeing, hearing and feeling can be sum wicked hard sometimes. But not so bad as a women dancing around in the shop office making peculair noises at the time, try to display what she thinks is wrong with her car.

So what is pot three for Mac? Why even put a pot three on the Cobra FI200R if it is of no value? Just wondering.

Now for my Cobra. When I installed my FI2000R I had just removed the baffles. Other than that my bike is stock. I have done nothing to the settings. It is still at 3-5-0. On a long trip to Texas last year I got 47 MPG on one tank and averaged 42 or 43 for the entire trip. I am very satisfied with the performance of the bike now. Be sure and have your gas tank almost empty when you go to install the Cobra. It will make it much easier to accomplish.

Gene the 3rd pot if for WFO.... old racing term

It controls the mixture when you hold the throttle wide open Gene. Our Nomads wide open mixture is plenty rich enough not to almost never need enrichening.

On the TFI the third and forth pot control wide open and at what RPM that wide open mixture kicks in.

So guess that is why it is set at 0? So is 0 the off position? Thanks for the information Brad.

Cobra Fi 2000

I have the cobra 2000 and running the stock settings. In the last week we did 1500 miles. As I was cleaning my bike first I notice more then normal amount of black crap on the rear fender and sournding areas. Any one else notice that after installing the cobra 2000? I'm not concerned about cause I know the cobra will make the bike run richer. My bro-in-law harley is yellow and his is always black in the back.
