08 Nomad Tires - Quick Reply Needed...

Bike is currently at the shop and I've gotta figure out what tires to put on it and price compare... potentially having tires shipped and installed as opposed to what they have available.

I'm searching the site, but not finding any single (or close to single) source of what is available. Searching the online sites results in mismatches... I can find a Metzler ME880 whitewall for front (150/80r16) but not for rear. Other brand/models like Michelin Commander II, I can find for front (blackwall) but nothing for rear...

Does anyone know offhand what they've got on their ride?

Ideally, Id find a whitewall front/rear... but I'd settle for front only...

Hopefully some quick replies..

Anyone have any experience with Shinko 777? Sure, they're a less expensive bias ply tire but I've seen some positive feedback online... Anyone ride them? Consider them?

However, they only have our 150/80-16 WW (for the front) in a rear tire -- thus i'd need to ensure it is mounted in reverse rotation...

I'm using Michelin Cammander II's and don't think I will ever switch again. Love these tires.

What sizes are you running?

Just checked on Motorcycle Superstore and for our front size, they only have a rear and they don't have our standard rear size...

Perhaps a stock issue or perhaps they don't make those sizes...

They don't make the stock size for our bikes.

I run 180/65-16 R and 130/90-16 F

I have seen someone post about putting the 150 Rear on the front mounted backwards. I don't know how well that works.. but I do know that the bikes handles great with my current set-up.

I just ordered a set of the Michelin Commander 2's yesterday. The front tire in the 130/90 size seems to be in short supply. I found it on Amazon.com. Dennis Kirk, Bike Bandit and Motorcycle Superstore were all sold out.

I'm running the 180/65-16 on back and plan on running the 130/90-16 on the front. How do you like the 130

I am running the Shinko 777 and love them so far. About 4000 miles on them, with no noticeable wear yet.

That's good to hear. I have about 11000 on my Bridgestone front so I'm real close to needing one. I did find the commander II front at JPCYCLE for $117 that cheaper than Amazon.

Amazon (sold by Chapparal) was $114 + free shipping. JP charges $13 to ship unless you are a gold club member. You can order directly from the Chapparal website also with free shipping.

Running the 777s and liking them FINE! Got them on Amazon (from PinwallCycle Parts) for $88.87/front and $98.99/rear - shipped. The front I'm running is a 130/90-16, slightly different than the 150/80-16 factory spec for my year but I understand the spec was changed to that size from 2009 on, so I figured no harm...and indeed she handles great with the 130.

Shinko 777s for about 6 months on my 09 Nomad. So far no better or worse than anything else. 170/70-16 rear $112.99, 130/90-16 front $79.99, with 16.99 shipping from J&P (will go to Amazon next time).
