A little nutty and very regulated and expensive.
Generally it's not considered hot around here until 105. In an extremely low humidity environment 100 degree in the shade is not that bad. In the sun it will melt the top of your head. 100 degrees at night coupled with 4% humidity is damn cold when you get out of a pool. You're dry in about 10 minutes.

However, couple 100 degrees, city driving and a 1700 cc engine and it will suck. It's all about trade-offs. I haven't been in -25 temps for 5 years and don't plan on ever being in them again. Call me a woos, I don't care.
It made it to 110 today in PHX, Stan. I'm glad I work indoors!

Dry heat schmy heat. Once it gets above body temp, it doesn't matter, you are getting baked.

49 and overcast this morning in Lynnwood. 80 and partly cloudy in Phoenix.

I know that isn't the high for the day. Guess which one I'd rather ride in. That's why we are moving there. =D

I'm with you on your preference of where to live. I'm not sure you ever climateize to 110 + weather but I'm sure getting tired of the rain and cooler temps. here in Vancouver BC. I'm constantly looking for either a permanent home or at the very least a winter home out in Scott's neck of the woods or the San Tan Valley. Nice place AZ., and you just can't beat the prices of homes either.

AZ was nice. Sedona gets my vote, but I'd like to see more of the Phoenix area, as we were just passing through. Man though, going from Cameron to four corners, it ain't too cool. Cortez CO was a trip too. dirtbagville. On one hand I feel sorry, on the other I am like WTF?

Funny you mention that. In this morning's paper it said that housing prices in the Valley haven't been this low since 1999. That's the year we moved here. Back then you could buy a new 3 bed, 2 bath home with a pool for around $110-$120k.

Lots of homes for sale in San Tan Valley, which is east of me. As housing prices skyrocketed in the early 2000's, land became scarce and expensive so developers bought cheap land on the fringes of the metro area. Places like San Tan Valley and Maricopa sprung up. There's tons of available homes in those areas now. My son and his wife were looking to buy a house in Maricopa 6-7 years ago and the prices were jumping by $10,000 a month.

Not really. Skin Temp. is 91F. At 95-105 in a dry climate the evaporation off your skin easily keeps you cool in the shade. In this sun you will bake in 80F. You sweat, you just don't get wet. Although you can get a bit crusty by the end of the day.

What most people don't realize that, every breath you take in extremely dry air and expel very moist air. So you slowly desiccate from the inside out unless you keep drinking. :(

I'm all about the "keep drinking". ;)
There's another difference in areas beside the humidity.
In the Puget Sound area "partly cloudy" = "look over by those mountains, I think I see some blue in the sky". In the Desert SW "partly cloudy" = "look over by those mountains, I think I see a cloud"

On Redfin this morning prices in the area we are shopping were as low as $13,900.00 for a 3 bed 1.5 bath. There are several properties below $30,000.00. That's just for central Phoenix north of McDowell.

At those prices they all need some level of repair, but that's what I do. :)

I've ridden in 100-103 in Iowa and I got baked pretty good. It's miserable.

At what humidity??? 100 @ 3% - 10% is a nice ride if you can keep moving. It does get pretty hot if you end up in traffic with the motor running.

Then again I might like it hotter than you like it. . . Heh, Heh, Heh.
