If you consider the Road King a touring bike, you have to consider the Nomad one too as both are very similar (hard bags, no fairing, windshield). I'm not really sure either of them would be in the same category as the VV, Road Glide or Electra Glide as those have CC, stereo, full fairing, gauges, etc.

I guess that was my point, I thought you guys were trying to compare the VV to other makes and models. So my assumption was that the Nomad and Road King without fairings shouldn't be included.

Do you really want me to come move in with you?

Best of luck with the Strat. Please post pics! I do like them a bunch. We were in massive debate on the Road Star Silverado in 2005. it was that or the Nomad and the comfort of the Nomad signed it. But I still liked the Star and do today.
But, no regrets. The Nomad has done what we need it to do.

bdeavours, let us know what you think of the Strat. I to have been eyeing a Strat S as the Nomad just does not excite me when I ride it. Need more POWER!

Yes, the Road Star Silverado had more performance than the Nomad. I can only imagine what the Stratoliner is like.....

I have owned both the Road Star and the Strat and now a Vaquero. Both of those Yamaha bikes had a lot more power and a greater overall finish on the paint and chrome, but not the creature comforts and looks of my Vaquero. So, I changed over.

The Road Star is more powerful than the Vaquero? I would be surprised if it was by any significant margin or at all. Strat, for sure.

My Road Star was was a 1756 vs my 1700 on my Vaquero. Only 5 speed and air cooled, my buddy bought it and he can still out run my Vaquero or any VV too he has come up against.

I thought a stock Road Star was a 1670?

In Canada you couldn't buy a new Ultra on the road for under 30k, most new ones here are about 34k, and a Screamin Eagle CVO was in the showroom here at 48K plus freight & taxes.

You can get either Ultra (Electra Glide or Road Glide) here for about 28k and any of the CVOs for about 35k out the door.
