Well now you got a battle story to swap!

On my second deer strike I got to see my last beloved Nomad do cartwheels, summersets and break dance! I slid down the road for a few feet on my back and arm, then the patch of poison oak on the road side broke my slide. I rolled over in it and crawled out of it on my elbows.

Nationwide did me right on everything.

I wonder why some people just blow through a deer and some do what happened to you? Did you have time to react? How did you make contact with the deer?

The first one I seen it about two feet in front of the headlight, and the second, at first I thought I hit a car, then somebody told me I hit a deer. The only reason I know what happened is because Todd talked to a driver behind me who said a deer came out of the woods and knocked me off the bike. No time to react in either case. I can't remember how I landed or rolled in either one but I have a very vivid memory, like a video, of seeing the bikes flipping. The first thought that went through my mind is "if you don't start breathing you gonna die"! It knocks every last breath out of you.

It's like a large sack of flour hits you, except it's maybe a 100~ pound well toned fury woodland creature.

It killed both deer. I reckon me and the second one butted heads or something.

I had whistles on my first bike. Somebody ask me if they were clean and I told them I just put them on two days before. Then they told me maybe a bug got caught in one of them.

I think maybe the damn stupid deer didn't know to run FROM a whistle.

Deer can't hear them just as we can't. It's a scam.

..Well it's sure true that skunks and coons cant hear them...I aint had the misfortune to cross path's with an Armadillo..yet !

Considering how many are squashed on the hiways in the south...I think those critters are commiting suicide, along with possum's !

Yesterday I slowed down for a big squirlly calf near the road, slowly passed him, started to accellerate when a young doe appeared from behind some brush and panicked at the rumble of my bike and zig-zagged in the road in front of me. There's probably a good chance we would have met unfavorably if I hadn't slowed down for the calf. Most of these critters graze in the bar ditches in the evening and panic when a cruiser comes by and are bent on jumping in your lap.

I think so too.

Knocking on wood is just as good as deer whistles. I done all the research I could and there is no conclusive evidence that whistles denture wildlife. I met a guy who hit four or five and he had whistles twice.
