Went from this the morning Hurricane Ike flooded our control room

To this $9 million dollars and 6 months later. Not quite finished but almost there. It's been a long haul.

That's more like it!
Looking good man. I'll bet it feels great to have the end of a project like that in sight.

Great! It's always good to hear about recovery after a mess like that.

That's my question. I see annunciator panels and what looks like control switches. Could be a transmission or distribution dispatch center. Sometimes a disaster is the only way to get rid of that old stuff.

If all goes well we may be able to start up the first week of November. The control center is between the tall columns on the left and the 7 boilers. Take care all.

As the politicians would say... dont let the opportunities in a crisis go to waste.

It's a natural gas processing plant. We strip the NGL's (natural gas liquids) such as ethane, propane, iso and normal butane and natural gasoline out of the deep water Gulf of Mexico gas. After we finish with it the methane is transported by large diameter pipelines to Eastern New York including Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx etc. The methane is used in gas fired power generation plants along with other industries and by consumers in their homes. I bet many of the New Yorkers never gave it a second thought where their gas came from. All of the pneumatic switches you see in the "before" pic were replaced with "soft switches" on the Honeywell Experion DCS computers. We took the opportunity to replace the old stuff that was very difficult to get parts for. All alarms annunciate on the computers and the most critical ones alarm on the 42" lcd screens up on the wall above our lockers. We also have a false floor that all of the equipment rests on. We are currently getting ready to replace all of our switchgear with new buildings. This is another big project coming up in the next couple of months. If it runs into June, too bad. My vacation is scheduled for Custer.

Hopefully a budget was included in the $9 million to keep that from happening again!! At least a permanent sand-bag wall or something!

Glad to hear things are returning to normal.
