Hotel in Missoula June 13th 2009

Hi Guys,

Best Western is $125+ tax w/free breakfast must guarantee 10 rooms (but I think they have some flexibility on the mount of rooms). (2) Queens.. $143+ tax if less than 10

The Cmon Inn is $139+tax w/Free breakfast. They will give a senior dicount (55+) to $129 +tax for those who qualify. (2) Queens. Looks like an interesting place and the people on the phone were friendly.

I http://www.cmoninn.com/reservations/

Holiday Inn - Staybridge Suites is $127 + I have stayed there, new + nice.

All these places are at the same exit...I think the BW and Cmon Inn are better for walking back to the hotel from the nearest restaurant.

Man these places haven't heard there is a recession...these rates seem high.

I think we should get a head count of the "pretty sure or definite" and how many rooms will be needed. Lets say we only have 4 rooms for sure right now. I will reserve 4 + a few more...lets say 7 rooms. All these places will let you book the rooms without deposit but they must be guaranteed within 30 days of stay date.

Everyone can call them direct after I book the block of rooms and put their room under their own name and when to choose or not choose to guarantee it.

It does not matter to me which one is chosen....if these are too expensive and others want to do something else on their own nearby that is fine. I am just hoping we can get as many Kawanow members to stay anywhere in Missoula that night. We can use a nearby restaurant as our greet/meet spot.

My personal hotel choice would be the Cmon inn, next the Best Western, then Staybridge. But I will have a roomie so I will be getting off cheaper. I assume some of you will be sharing as well.

Maybe the best idea is to get one of these booked and if someone else comes up with a better plan, we can cancel before the May deadline without penalty.

The other thing that may happen is with this economy ....these places may lower their rates...we can always cancel + rebook or renegotiate.

Give me some input through this weekend...I will book whatever sounds reasonable to everyone next week. I will book as many extra rooms as I can without guaranteeing anything. As more members chime in and use up the rooms we will cancel/add as needed until full.

The other thing; does everyone realize that the Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally runs June 12-16th so there may be alot of competition for hotel rooms. I was thinking about swinging through Hells Canyon on the way up or back but don't want to be the middle of there rally....too crowded.

Shoot that's expensive! I have a brother-in-law and sister-in-law in Hamilton, I might have to ask them if there are other places to book or see if I can stay with them.

After we are done with our transition, I'll have a better handle on what Kari and I will be doing.

That does seem spendy...especially since it is not a major City like Seattle! That said....Missoula is located in a very advantageous place to meet up with the Canadian contingent that will be coming from the north. Given the importance and convenience of the location....we should probably bite the bullet and make the reservations.

At least we don't have to confirm right away and maybe we could find a better deal somewhere else. If we do....maybe they would match the lower rates rather than lose the bookings... :-/.

I guess I don't have a preference as to which place, but I only need a room with a single queen.

I will go ahead and reserve 7 rooms. Once it is done I will post the info and each of us can put under our own name....then each of us can cancel if we come up with something else later.

I agree Kris...it is so convenient and central for so many ...plus it is only one night.

Yep, Missoula is pricy for rooms, always has been. There is a Marriott Clourtyard on the other side of the freeway as well. It's about $149/nite. If you are willing to ride a coupoe of miles further, there is a Comfort Inn in Lolo that I stayed in a coupoe of years ago. Not bad.

I'm really thinking that camping will be a good thing.

Sure would have liked to have made your rally, since we are only a skip and jump from you, (Mtn Home, Idaho), but will be in Kentucky for the Wandering VROC rally June 11th. :-(

Kraz,
Welcome to the forum from the great Pacific NW! Glad to hear from you. There seems to be only a few of us that chime in here to the NW section on a regular basis...so don't be a stranger... :)!

Cheers....Kris

Welcome to the N'ad House. Have fun at the VROC Rally for us, will ya? In the meantime, we'd love to have your input on our 2010 Rally...we're thinking about doing something around Glacier National Park. Keep in touch,
Rich

Welcome Kraz...have a great trip. I think you will get plenty of chances to hook up with us in the future.

I also wanted to invite Dooner in from Spokane. Dooner is a new member as well and made his first post in the 1500/1600 forum.

Our little NW group is growing!

Indeed....nice to see some new blood! Schoeney...did you firm up a hotel for our rendezvous point in Missoula?

Thanks Kris for the ride plans.
Not sure if you want mine. I still haven't written my plans in stone yet, but if I ride to Calgary to meet up with my friend and the other Canadian Bros. I doubt if we would, in effect, ride "back" to Missoula. I think we would want to hold up in Helena MT. for the night and hopefully meet up there the next day. These are just my thoughts. I haven't talked with any of the Alta. boys yet.

I didn't realize you would be riding backwards to Missoula, but looking more at Google Earth...I certainly see what you mean in terms of where the roads lead you. We will be riding through Helena sometime the next morning and could certainly hook up with you guys there...no problem. Everett to Missoula is 450 miles, so I'm pretty sure we won't want to ride any further than that the first day.

Kris,

I left a message for the gal I have been talking to at the Best Western, she sounded like a nice older gal.....I suspect she wasn't at work today. It is 6 below but it is a dry 6 below

I will let you know when I have them booked.

That'll work Kris.
I started a thread in our grp. but it might be too early for some to make a full commitment. Like I said before. Nothing is written in stone yet.
Apparently Missoula is approx. 2 hrs. away from Helena. FYI
