ST1300, huh? While I don't see the deep desire for ABS, the ST1300 does have some very nice features that I sure wish the Nomad had, like Electronically Adjustable Windshield. It's definately a different look, and now you can hang out with all those crotch rocket riders too. The potential for clubs is endless now.

I hope that you really enjoy the new bike, and yes sometimes change is needed no matter how satisfied you are with what you have.

There is a group of about 25 sport bike riders that go past our place every Sunday evening, all in a group.

It always makes me wish a group of us was going on a ride every Sunday.

Dank

My prevoius bike was an st1100. Well made bike. Loved it. Obvoius better handling and speed but I think you're going to miss the comfort of the Nomad. You can move around on the long rides so much more in the saddle on the nomad. I used to get about 45 MPG on the st

Good luck and enjoy. The st is a great bike, just different.

Watch out for them ABS brakes.... ABS isn't always a good thing. Take special care going over a raised sidewalk for fuel. Unloading the rear tire going over a bump with the brake ON sets the ABS into spaze mode, and you will look silly crashing into the gas pumps.

It just might be I will never own anything with working ABS even if I must by pass them.

The last thing I need is brakes that know when a tire is locked up and unlocks them...

Passing by a solid object isn't on my list of fun things to do, and so I will never have ABS...

Congrats on the new ride though..... if you come by any problems, I will look into to stuff if you wish..

Ahhh, you should have gone with the Concours. The Zx-14 engine. It will do the 1/4 mile in 10.56 at over 130mph. Now that is performance. I am toying with the idea of a Connie, though not at the expense of my Nomad. I would have to have both. :) Enjoy the ride though. i will be riding one of those in Oct when I see a buddy of mine that has one.

I looked long and hard at the Connie. Wanted to buy it. Amazing engine. Wasn't sold on the range, which many report at sub-200 miles. Didn't like the complexity of checking the valves, let alone adjusting the shims. But that engine! Most of all, though, my wife rides with me some, including cross country touring. I love that she is willing to do so. She found the Connie very uncomfortable (Pegs too high, seat sloped forward.) There are aftermarket fixes, but I didn't want to spend $13,000+, and still risk that she wouldn't be comfortable with it. She is very comfortable on the stock ST. And truth be told, I haven't often raced from 120 - 160 mph on my Nomad, I'm sure none of you have either, and doubt I'll try to do it on the ST, but that is really where the Connie beats the ST. Both seem to have a loyal following and I think both are exceptional bikes. Likely would have ignored the range issue and gotten the Connie if I only rode solo (it costs less).

Keeping both wasn't an option I considered.

Brian . 'Ave yee been in my prettys again?

Just the other night I was lookin' fer my red pumps with the stilletto heels and the fish net stockings, and was late fer a date...

I bet this new bike is nice, but my next bike still won't be like that..

My next bike is gonna be rail thin and look like it needs more parts to just run...

Those are sweet rides. I would get one, except I'm way to lazy to sit up straight and train myself to use those tiny pedals anymore. For whaterver the Nomad lacks, for me, it has the comfort of a Lazy Boy...Seriously, have a great time when you blast past us...

Thanks for all the well wishes. As I said, you are a great group, and the Nomad is one sweet ride. (I won't blast by: I don't ride that way. I'll wave and say howdy!)
