I had the OEM rear speaker kit on my Voyager.
I could not tell the difference when riding if those speakers were on or off.

In my opinion they were a 300 dollar waste of money. I don't expect high fidelity music on a motorcycle, just some background music of average quality is good enough for me.

It seems drastic to me to start cutting up the hardbags to install extra speakers.
I never had the volume over half way and could hear the music just fine from the front speakers alone.

My 2 cents.

Not a lot of flat surface on those bags, I think it would be difficult.

I have these little speakers mounted just under the outside of my tourpak and the sound is really amazing for their size. Here is the link:http://www.sharkmotorcycleaudio.com/...00-watts-each/

Install speaker in hard bags

I have seen used bikes with it done. It clearly hurts your resale value.

I would think that would depend entirely on the quality of the installation and the reulting sound quality.

Do you have any example where resale value as dropped?

I have yet to see any negative impact when performing this upgrade.

sounds like a good way to ruin a set of hard bags.

Because HD saddlebags are relatively easy to add speakers to. You just buy a lid with a speaker mount in it and swap out the stock lid.

Check out what it would cost to replace the bags if it doesn't work out. You may be unpleasantly surprised.
