WC Soccer - Boring.

I am working around the house and just looked at ESPN. Two World Cup games on. Both are past 70 minutes and both are tied at 0-0. What a boring sport. Reminds me of college basketball before the shot clock was used and some teams used what was called the 4 corners defense. You would see scores like 12-8, or 10-6. At least back in those days they did not fake their injuries like these poor little soccer players. Suck it up and play on is not what they do.

I'm working from home today and have the WC on in the background. Italy played Uruguay earlier and one of the players on the Uruguay team bit one of the Italian players. Apparently this douchesicle has had two other biting incidents in the past. I laughed so hard I about fell out of my chair. Who bites their opponent? The announcers were saying how they feel sorry for the guys kids, having to go to school and be teased because their dad bit someone.

I agree. I want to see a real Chevy race a real Ford. Until that happen (and it will not) I think NASCAR will keep losing fans.

Description of a NASCAR race:

They have the green flag!

They're making a left turn!

Repeat the above line about a thousand times.

They have the checkered flag!

The Italian soccer teams were notorious for faking injuryies, its been rumoured that they practised falling and rolling on the ground. It buys them time to rethink and switch players off the sidelines.
I don't have any interest in watching the games, but most of the others here at work are hooked on it.

I never could understand why thousands of people would pay to watch talentless morons drive cars around and around for hours, i reckon every 10th lap that a driver completes, he has to do 1 going the other way against the traffic, that would at least make it a bit interesting !

Nascar stopped using "Stock cars" in 1966. When the manufactures started making the "unibody" construction, which was not for safe racing! Teams had to start building tube frames, to replace the unibody. They stopped using the car shell in the 80s when the manufactures went to the smaller cars.

Most of the changes to the stock cars have been for safety reasons. It's not good to go over 200 mph in a car designed to go 70.

Bill,
Nascar changed back to the different manufacture body styles last year.

When I was a kid my parents were big racing fans. We would take vacations that had a race in it. I was lucky to be at Indy in 1964 when Jimmy Clark got the pole in a rear engine car the Lotus and with an unheard of 4 speed tranny.

And again When my favorite driver Parnelli Jones drove the STP turbine car. After few weeks they brought the car back to a Firestone tire shop in SoCal so the public could go and see it.

Yea..the only way the rest of the racing crowd could come close...was to change the rules..(even tho the orig car was built within the rules)
